I have a problem which has just started, when I load Windows 2000 up, when I log on, all the processes start up except for the explorer.exe. My Windows shell doesn\'t load, it just sits there, the computer hasn\'t crashed because I can still access the task manager but as I said the explorer.exe refuses to load. I tried starting it manually but the little f_uck wont start. Anyone gimmie any help on fixing this problem. Thanks

Troubleshoot by starting it in SAFE MODE and then watch in the EVENT VIEWER for any errors.
I bet that the prob is with Memory--->PageFile, This can happen if you\'ve deleted a partition containing pagefile, and your boot drive (that contains WINNT dir) is almost full. because win2k would create temporary page file on boot drive if one is missing you and inform you right after the SHELL have successful loaded. you do not get this because shell cannot be loaded
However this usual happen to computers with little memory and configured as Domain Controller ( who the hell would do that ) because AD is damn big
Try to..
**start win2k in safe mode. with/without command prompt) they both allow you to run any program.
**start regedit , specify alternate shell (progman.exe), you could also use MSCONFIG utility available in this site to config startup programs. (this also good option if you suspect a virus has infected explorer.exe)
** Make sure pagefile partition is available/accessible from your win 2k.if not create a new one through system applet in control panel.
hopin\' this info would be useful.
