Post by: Allanon on March 19, 2006, 12:55:20 AM: Interesting topic. I recently had a discussion about almost the same issue and these were some of the areas we covered. First of all, while peace is good it is basically unattainable. People will always be fighting over something, no matter how dumb the reason is. Also war does have its benifits. After World War I and the depression that followed it countries realised that there was a needed change in their economy. Today through the people our military employs whether it be in factories or as soldiers, our economy has been structured through the guarantee of war, so it can only boost our economy. People have almost forced war to be helpful to some degree, and hey MAD (mutually assured desctruction) is still in order so no one will be using any nukes anytime soon.

Anyways, yes, wars are always there but we could make them less by atleast saying NO to war.
Economy, so we go and kill a bunch of people for our economy!?!? Isn't that real selfish, I mean just imagine if it were your country being destroyed... Would you like people to come destroy yer country just for their economy?

Because if you do sometimes the ONLY way to keep those are through war. Yes, it seems pointless, and yes there should be an alternative, but war has been an aspect of the entire WORLD'S culture since the beginning of time. It's in our blood.

For this reason, yes our economy almost depends on war, but is it really that bad to use something as innevitable as war to as many advantages as possible?

Lets use a current issue, the American/Iraq war do you think it is justified? I mean we are only going fighting for oil, Nuclear weapons in iraq pfft we went there and we found nothing, and I don't think the american CIA or FBI or whatever agency said that there were any nuclear weapons didn't know that there weren't any, the only reason the government went there is because Bush wants oil. /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
