Questolo,
I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing you can help me with, but you've helped in the past and I thought I'd give you a try. I've lost all sounds on my computer and I have done the trouble shooting in "Control Panel" and checked all my connections...but still no sound. Is there some sort of a "Bug" going around that messes with the sound? I recently had a virus that AVG caught and healed/removed. If you can't help, could you point me in the right direction? I've included a HJT log just in case.

Can you do the following please
I would like to check on something
Download F-Secure's BlackLight from HERE (http://\"http://www.europe.f-secure.com/exclude/blacklight/blbeta.exe\") and save it to your Desktop.
Locate and double click blbeta.exe to run it - you will need to accept the license agreement.
Click the Scan button to start and then Next when it has finished scanning.
Do not rename any files if given the choice, I need to see the log
A text file, fsbl-date/time, will be saved to your Desktop, copy and paste this into your next post.
-

That looks good
Do you have a volume icon by the clock?
If so, can you double click on it and make sure nothing is muted
I know you may have already checked there, but double check, I've seen it happen a few times
-
I double checked and nothing is muted.

this samething happens to me all the time for some reason i have not figured it out.Once i fixed the no sound problem by reinstalling
the winXP theme i use.And once i had to used my XP disc to do an express install of XP .
Seems like every time i use cleanup.exe i have this problem ..
-
Have you looked in the device manager to see if you have any problems?
You may have to try reinstall your sound card drivers
I'm curious about what birdman mentioned
Once i fixed the no sound problem by reinstalling
the winXP theme i use
Have you lost the Windows XP theme?
Are you in Classic theme?
How long have you been without sound?
-
I have been without saound for about three weeks. Just one day I noticed there was no sound at all. I haven't messed with windows themes.
