Title: DVD DMA

within NT based OS\'s I cannot get DMA mode enabled for my creative DVD drive, when windows boots it sets it to PIO mode 4

this is puzzling me as the bois reconises it as a ata33 mode device ???

Can anyone explain that to me ???

You can check dma settings with \" nero infotool \", and my dma is set ON for my dvd drive .I have attached the file (it\'s freeware) .

I found out how to set dma :
You must go to the device manager ,
IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
Primary , or Secondry IDE channel
DMA if available
Set the bios Integrated peripheralss : IDE PIO settings to \"auto\"
Your drive must support ultraDMA /33 mode

my drive supports ultraDMA /33 mode
DMA if available  is set

and the drive is still in mode 4

I\'ll try the tool when I get back onto my pc ( at University now )

My bios settings are auto for all devices and also for Ultra dma .
my winxp settings primary ide  ( I only use my primary ide )
Device 0 -tranfer mode DMA if available
Current tranfer mode \"Ultra dma mode 2\"
So there must be different modes of UDMA .
I only have one ide device (dvd)
In PIO modes there are 0 - 4 and 4 is the fastest  mode .
