How's this for a n00bish first post?
/laugh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':lol:\' /> I've just put a new processor in my motherboard (ECS K7S5A). I've taken out the old one that was running at 750mhz, and put in what I 'believe' is an Athlon 1700 (I bought it from a guy at work, so it didn't come with a box or anything).
Anyhow, after putting it in there, the computer's running it at 1100mhz. This is an improvment, but not quite what I was after. Looking around in the BIOS, the CPU Speed is currently set to 100/100mhz. If I Page Up/Down this option, it changes the CPU Frequency and DRam Frequency to 133mhz. This then sets the CPU Speed at 1.4ghz+, which is more what I had in mind (ie- what I've been told it can do)
n00bish question: Is this safe to do? It seems like a legit option so far as the BIOS os concerned, but I don't want to melt my processor.

As you can probably tell, I know very little about these things. I kind of learn as I go along, and I've just never needed to do this before. Any pointers you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Shows the tempature of the fans and others in system tray. nice little tool.

But as "CPU1" displays at around 3 degrees when I start up, and "CPU2" keeps at around 30-40, I guess CPU2 is the one to watch
