Title: Big Problem
Post by: Edward on April 15, 2006, 01:09:35 PM
Everytime i open up internet explorer it gives me a warning page that my computer is infected with Spyware like this.

Attention! Your system is under control of remote computer with IP address 227.4.167.118. The remote computer has access to the following folders on your PC:
- \WINDOWS\System32
- \Program Files\Internet Explorer
- \My Documents
- Drive C:\ files

I ran adAware didn't remove nothing.
I downlaod the evaluation version of panda. it removed 5 spyware.
I keep getting this message and im getting very concerned because it's saying it's very high risk.

im trying to remove Panda and it won't let me for some reason.
And with AVG i sometiems get viruses outta no where. that i gotta heal.

Also hijackthis log.

Title: Big Problem
Post by: guestolo on April 15, 2006, 01:15:54 PM
Why is this operating system have no Windows Updates
I also don't see a firewall running

Edward, is this the same machine you always have problems with
We can get you clean, but I don't understand why
You'll just get infected again in no time without any Windows updates
Recommendation: Backup important files and folders and clean install the operating system
It may be quicker than trying to clean the system

If you would rather clean the system let me know
But reinstalling would take just as long

If you would like to continue with fixing this machine
Please uninstall Panda's evaluation version
Having more than one AV running in the background will cause us conflicts and decreases system performance

I do have windows updates. i just don't have SP1 or SP2 because they give me problems anyway. so i just did away. and my firewall is enabled. also i have a router firewall enabled as well. not sure why it's not showing.

The panda is the free version. Full function for 30 days. I downloaded it because it's very helpful and lets me remove stuff thats AVG doesn't find.

also when i go to add/remove programs. i click remove Panda evaluation version it just cancles it out. But panda is gone. it's not in my start menu or anything .i can't see it anywhere. t just won't let me remove it from add/remove programs.

It appears your not the only one with this problem

Do all the following below and see if it helps

Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc
Hit OK
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Panda Process Protection Service

Double click on it--- STOP the service--If running
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled
Do the same for this one
Panda IManager Service

Let's try Tank863's method of removal
Save this uninstaller to your desktop
http://216.240.153.30/tech/Panda_Uninst.exe (http://\"http://216.240.153.30/tech/Panda_Uninst.exe\")
1. Choose to ‘run’ the file:
2. Choose to ‘continue to uninstall Panda Software as prompted:
3. A DOS screen will pop up and prompt you that it is ‘removing LSP’s’:
4. You will receive the screen below prompting you to restart/reboot your computer. Please click ‘OK’:

Back in Windows
Create a new restore point
Go to START>>RUN>>type in msconfig
Click the "Launch System Restore" button
Click "Create a new Restore point"
Name it and click Create

When that's done
Open the Registry from Start, Run, type  regedit, and click on OK.
Highlight 'My Computer' at the top of the list, then go to 'Edit' and 'Find'. Type
panda
into the box and then click on 'Find Next'. This will search the Registry for panda files. When it brings up a folder or file, press 'delete' or right-click on the highlighted file/folder and select 'delete' from the menu to remove it. Then press 'F3' to search again and find the next Panda entry.

Continue to search and delete Panda entries in the Registry until no more entries are found. Then repeat this process, this time searching for
pav
When both searches are complete, close the Registry and restart the computer.

Back in Windows
Using Windows Explorer delete the Panda Software folder that is below C:\Program files. You should also delete the following files Windows \system: PAV.SIG, APVXD.VXD, APVXDUT.VXD, PANDA.CHP.

Download CCleaner from here
http://www.ccleaner.com/ (http://\"http://www.ccleaner.com/\")
Install it and run CCleaner
Under Cleaner, Select  every option and click clean. Then I click on Issues and checked every option and selected scan for issues. Fix selected issues

Reboot the computer one more time and come back here and post a fresh hijackthis log

==Download and then Install
Ewido anti-malware 3.5 (http://\"http://download.ewido.net/ewido-setup.exe\")

When installing, under "Additional Options" UNCHECK
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ (http://\"http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/\")

Download smitRem.exe (http://\"http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click%20counter/click.php?id=1\") ©noahdfear, and save the file to your desktop.
Double-click on the smitRem.exe file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

We'll need this later

Save the rest of these instructions to a Notepad file saved to your desktop or Print them out for use in safe mode

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu

Open the SmitRem folder located on the desktop

Double-click on the RunThis.bat file, as shown by the arrow in the image above, to start the tool.
The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
Remain in safe mode after the fix is complete

==Open Ewido Anti-Malware
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
  *1. Perform Action = Remove
*2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
*3. Perform action with all infections
    Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido
NOTE: When Ewido is running, don't open any other Windows

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O2 - BHO: Nothing - {8d83b16e-0de1-452b-ac52-96ec0b34aa4b} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\hp8FA7.tmp
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winhqd32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winhqd32.dll

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot back to Normal mode

Post back the following
1. Post a fresh hijackthis log
2. Post the whole report from Ewido's
3. Post the log created from Smitrem>>C:\Smitfiles.txt

Not a clue, I don't know your system specs.
I'm even curious why you always have problems install SP1 and/or SP2
Maybe a program that you keep installing or have installed?

How's everything on your end now?
