I've been having problems with spyware/adware, and in the process of cleaning it all up my machine has gone through the ringer. More than once. During the excitement the volume control went missing from the tool bar, and I don't know what I did to lose it. I'm running Windows 2000 Professional on a relatively ancient HP Pavilion XL866, if that makes a difference. I can use a computer, but when it comes to the guts, I have to admit I'm a total noob, as the kids say.
