Title: Defeating the compaq Check on Win 2k

Hi Guys,

Anyone know how to defeat the compaq check on Win 2k compaq CD.

I\'ve got the compaq machine, but I would like w2k on my other home made pc\'s.

I friend said I may have to copy the disk.

Try it, but it just says only for a compaq machine.

Why not pay 99 dollars for Windows XP Home?  Your compaq w2k cd is for your compaq...and nothing more.  Piracy is bad...

Forget about it that CD is propietary even if you were to get
it to work it would install that stupid compaq diags with
the image. therefore you are better getting a regular Win2k
cd legal or otherwise. Keep your install image clean so
you won\'t have to uninstall things you don\'t want.

The recover CD checks the Board ID in the bois of the PC - and of course Compaq ID\'s are different to other\'s. The only way around it is to put a HD from the PC you want it on into the Compaq PC, then after it has extracted all the files from the CD and wants to reboot, turn the PC off and take the HD out of the Compaq PC and put back in to original PC.
