Title: Screen problem? ? ?

hi,
my laptop has been acting funny lately, i have a sony vaio VGN-FS742/w, and recently the screen will get messed up. The screen will turn black, then all of sudden dark purple. The only i can stop it is to turn off the computer. Does any1 know whats wrong??  i just got my comp for a half a year.

Could be a bad connection. Take it to a Sony dealer to have it checked out. I wouldn't open it. Might cause more damage.

I recommend that you hook it up to an external monitor to check if it is the screen or the computer itself.

Hooking up an external monitor is not an issue because it's obvious it's mostlikely the screen thats [censored]. It has happened to me once.
