i need some help, i\'m trying to make a win2k bootdisk, cause i need it to fdisk, and format a old hd i\'m about to add 2 my comp. I can\'t get the dos command \"FORMAT A: /S\" to work, it says \"invalid parameters - /s\" , I\'m not sure what step to take next.
-
What exactly do you want to do with the old hard drive?
You can use disk management under win2k (control panel> administrative tools> computer management> disk management) to setup your partitions.
If you are going to install windows 2000, there is a stage in setup where you can add/remove partitions.

i wanna use the hold hd for storage, but win2k won\'t boot with it connected, so i need to fdisk it and format. thats why i need a dos bootdisk

Did you try setting the jumper on the hard drive to cable select or slave?
-
well its a maxtor, so it has a jumper that says master/slave, and thats what it has been on. its has cable select but i am not sure, what this option is for
-
thanx for the help, nothing needed to be changed on the jumper cable of the maxtor hd. i just forgot to set the jumper settings on my original hd, as a master with slave present. i still want to format the maxtor and use it as a storage disk, how can i go about doing this???

Install hard drive.
Use computer management> disc management to create partitions and format the drive

thanks alot, everything is up and running, thanx Z for taking time to help me out.

How about this:
FORMAT C: /S

forget it, it won\'t work. the only way to boot up 2000 from disks or cd ist with some nice tools: ERD COMMANDER or O&O BLUECON 2000
