Title: AVG won't install and another prob

Hey im working on my brothers computer at his house and im trying to install an AV for him.. im trying to install AVG because it's free and when i try i get this error

Local machine: installation Failed
Installation
Error: Action failed for registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\AVG.Kernel: creating registry key....
Access is denied. (5)

Also, with CCleaner when i click issues and go to fix all the issues. they all just come right back. i don't even have to reboot, i can just fix them once, do another scan for issues and they will all be  there again..

Let's have a closer look and see if there are other issues

Open Hijackthis.exe

Do a "SCAN and Save a Log file"
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log  here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

also if i try to run pandas activescan it stops about half way through. si theres another prob.

oh and.. for some reason it seems like the computers looping. If i downlaod and install something it seems as if i have to reinstall it after i reboot because the whole thing will be gone.(ihad to reinstall ewildo 3 times....) Im not sure why... good news is though. It seems i have no spyware/maleware according to ewildo, ad-aware and Spybot. so im not sure whats going on..

another thing just brought to my attention.. I was going to update spyblaster and it gave me this error

"Cannot find import; DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version
File 'MSVBVM60.DLL', error 126" i tryed reinstalling and it gives me the same error..

I'm not sure what's happening with the install of programs

For SpywareBlaster, do the following
Follow the link to resolve the problem

Let's try the following
Ensure you are only logging into the computer with a user that has Administrative privleges
Let's disable Windows Defenders realtime protections temporarily to ensure there not interfering
Open Windows Defender.
Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.

Open CCleaner and click issues and fix all the issues

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)


After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Back in Windows
Download and unzip to your desktop InstalledPrograms.zip (http://\"http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/vbsfiles/InstalledPrograms.zip\")
Double click on InstalledPrograms.vbs

Click OK at the IP prompt and click YES to view the results now
A text file will open, can you copy and paste back here the whole contents

When i did cleanup. and clicked issues and went to fix the issues.. they came right back again...also spyblaster works now  /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

Access your add/remove programs and remove
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_05
They are all outdated

Remove>Viewpoint Media Player

What product's are you using from
Authentium
Just
Anti-Spyware Ver: 5.6.608 Installed: 4/11/2006?



If they didn't intentionally install Pacific Poker
Remove it too

Reboot the computer
Go to the following link
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp (http://\"http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp\")
Download and save to desktop the Windows OFFLINE installation
Double click on the installer and follow the prompts to install the latest version of Java
Once installed you can delete the installer saved to desktop

When you run CCleaner and clean issues you should be prompted to backup
Do so then RIGHT CLICK on the back up you made and choose EDIT
Copy>>Paste that info back here if not too long

ok.. im not sure what im using anthutiem for.. it doesn';t even show up on add/remove programs.

When i try to remove pacific poker i get this error

Can you do one more step

If unsure if Home or Pro
Go to START>>RUN>>type in winver
Hit OK

Save it too your desktop

Double click on the installer and at the prompt UNZIP the files
Leave it unzip to the default location which should be
C:\WINDOWS\System32

Reboot the computer

Try and remove Pacific Poker again

Try redownloading  AVG from this location
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 (http://\"http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5\")

Try installing AVG, if it will install update and run a full scan

Post back and let me know how things went
Could you also do the following
Open Spybot>>click on MODE>>Advanced>>Ok the prompt
Click on TOOLS in the bottom Left
Put a tick in Uninstall Info on the right if not selected
Then select Uninstall Info on the left
Select EXPORT>>save the export to desktop

Copy and paste back here the contents please

NOTE: DJLizard, on another forum has created a tool to fix registry permissions, which you may have problems with, but do the above first, if you still have problems with CCleaner let me know

Okay, that didn't show me what I wanted to see

Can you try the following

Let's create a new restore point before we carry on
Go to START.>>>All programs>>Accessories>>System tools>>System restore
Create a new restore point
Name it and click Create
Exit

After that is done
Download Dial-a-fix
from here
http://DjLizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix-medium.exe (http://\"http://DjLizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix-medium.exe\")

Self extract it then open the new Dial-A-Fix folder it created
Close all other open windows
Run Dial-a-fix.exe>>Click TOOLS
 then double click on Repair permissions.

This can take a few minutes to complete
When it done close out and reboot the computer

Back in Windows
Open CCleaner
Click on TOOLS
Do you see Authentium or Anti-Spyware in the list on the right?

Try running Issues again, make backup and remove
Reboot computer one more time

Try installing AVG again, let me know if that helps
