Title: Disconnecting Internet
Post by: mailman on July 15, 2006, 09:11:51 PM
There are two laptops in my household, both of which need to use the internet at various times. There have been various problems with the internet connection which I have been unable to fix.

The two laptops in the house:
1. Dell Inspiron 510m. It connects to the router with an ethernet cable.

System Specs:
Pentium M 1.6GHz
512MB RAM
15in screen
64MB shared Intel Extreme Graphics 2
40GB hard drive
DVD-RW/CD-RW
Runs on Windows XP Home

2. HP Compaq nx9010. It connects to the router wirelessly.

System Specs:
2.66GHz Intel Pentium 4
512MB RAM
15in screen
ATI Radeon IGP 345M 64MB
40GB hard drive
DVD-RW/CD-RW
Runs on Windows XP Home

Router:
Netgear DG834G.

Internet Connection:
ADSL 512kbps. 2GB bandwidth.

Internet Provider:
Internode

The problems:
1. Both laptops cannot connect to the internet at the same time. If they try to, the Compaq nx9010 will freeze and will have to be restarted before it is able to be used again.
2. The router disconnects from Internode often.
3. The router sometimes disconnects from Internode but still says that it is connected to the internet.
4. If the router disconnects while the Compaq nx9010 is connected to the internet, the Compaq will freeze and will have to be restarted before it is able to be used again.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
