I know this is old question but I\'m at work and running NT 4.0 (They are stubborn to change for now) and they formatted the drive I\'m on now. Unfortuanately as you all know 4.0 didn\'t come with active desktop. Of course if you don\'t have ie 4.0 .., then you can\'t get active desktop (they come with the os). Is there anyway I can get around this or re-download the old package with active desktop included? Thanks alot people...

If you can find an older service pack cd, isp cd, or even PC magazine cd, you have a good chance of finding IE 4 on there. Install normally (be sure to select active desktop) then upgrade again to whatever version you want.
I wanted the most up-to-date version of IE 4 though, so after doing some digging I was able to find that MS still had the files up, but the install program could not download them. I went through my cd\'s till I found an older IE 4, got the list of files, then downloaded each one individually (btw it worked fine). When I have some more time I\'ll see if I still have that and if so I\'ll try to zip it up and upload it to the site.

there is also a setup switch you can use in Ie5, it may even work in IE 6
this switch is
ie5setup.exe /c:\"ie5wzd /e:IE4Shell_WIN /I:Y\"
replace the start with the IE setup name
/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
