Title: crck office 2000 on XP
Post by: roki on March 09, 2002, 03:40:50 PM
I\'m just setting up a new laptop (Dell 1GHz PIII) that my dad just bought, and I\'m struggling to figure out what to do after reading and hearing various horror stories about XP.  Can anyone help?

1/ I\'ve heard that if you install a cracked version of Office 2000 on a legit XP, Microsoft can verify that it\'s a dodgy serial number and contact you about it... is this true and s the spyware aspect of XP really as bad as people are saying?

2/ Ideally I\'d like to install Win98SE on it.  I tried this once, and the ONLY problem (all drivers worked fine) was a hardware conflict in the \'System Extension for PnP BIOS\'.  Win98 had tried to install this twice, and one occurance was showing a conflict (though no devices were listed in the conflict box). Anyone know a way to resolve this? btw PnP cannot be disable in the BIOS version installed...
