Title: More moderators needed?
Post by: Kyra Yamato on September 08, 2006, 08:59:59 PM
Hey ive noticed that the current mod(s) and admin(s) are quite oftenly offline and not doing such a good job handling spam, scams, IP check and locking threads that people use for posts.

Ive noticed that the spamming has increased, week scams, strong scams(being scamed from 100k-100m+), people using realy old threads ( that need to be locked!) to gain posts. people making stupid topics for posts. and people just plain breaking all the rules. and whole lot more.

But i think we need more mods to help cover this ( 2 or 3 ) from the anti scammers ( with 100% clean scamming record) to be chosen to be mods. Now i won't sujest any one because it is up to the admins and the site owner(s).

PS: NO OFFENSE TO THE CURRENT MODS, YOU JUST NEED MORE HELP.

I posted this here instead of "sujestions" forum becuase this needs to be classified.

Let me clarify that just a bit.  I'm happy with the mods and co-admin on this board, but it would definitely be nice to have more mods and perhaps even more admins (right now it's me and one other guy).  Thing is, I'd rather have too few mods/admins but have them all be people I can trust, than have a bunch that I didn't check out that well beforehand (argh, we need more admins, get the dart board so we can randomly pick some more!).  That's just me, other people think differently and may have a forum where half the people on there are mods.

Also, about being active in some sections and not in others, I don't pay anyone to be an admin or a mod (sorry bloodogre and Allanon, I forgot to mention that earlier).  I'm not going to force anyone to do anything.  Poor guestolo, he never knew what hit him.  One day he's a regular user, next thing he knows he's a moderator, and then a bit later he logs in and he's an admin!  Never asked for it, and I'm not about to demand anything from him.  Basically, he frequents a few sections on this forum, and if someone's posting some spam or in the wrong section, he can go ahead and move/delete the thread (and now that he's an admin, he can ip ban a persistent spammer if he wants to go to the trouble, it's not a one-click thing right now).  But he doesn't have to, and I'm not going to be upset at him if he doesn't patrol other sections of the forum, or if he quits taking care of "his" sections.  Same thing if Allanon or bloodogre stops, I'm not going to get upset, they're doing it for free, I'm glad for whatever help they do give.

I know there's a few other mods listed in the other sections that haven't been active in a very long time.  Once you're a moderator, unless you do something to lose my trust I'm not going to take away your status just because you took a break for a while.  I had one guy that I gave access to post in the News section, he'd go away for months at a time, then all of a sudden he'd show up, post some cool things, then run off again.  So, maybe those old mods aren't here now, but someday they may come back and start moderating again, just cause they can.

Easy.  Just start insulting people at random.  Wait at least 2 hours between each insult.  Once you're banned, you know the last person you insulted was a moderator.

Or you could just look where on ours it says anti-scammer it would say moderator on them, also you can look at the member title, try looking at bloodorgres or allanons

Bloodogre's says Anti-Scammer just like the rest.  I can change that if needed, far as the forum's concerned he wouldn't be part of the Anti-Scammers, but mods have access to this area, so it's no biggie.  Or we can just change the "Obviously a bot" instead.

Just to let you guys know at one point "Me" and "bloodorge" were the most trusted members, But when he was picked as the president his trust was incresed even more. But when no one was on, me and him stuck around trying to do the best we could without a mod/admin present.
