Title: COmputer wont boot!
Post by: azn_eat_rice on September 16, 2006, 05:20:47 AM
hi,
recently i used a program called nuke and boot that erases computer info. After i ran the software, whenever i turn on my vomputer it says
"strike F1 to retry reboot, F2 for setup utility"

When i enter the floppy disk that the program is on and press F1, the setup process starts over again.

So i guess the problem is that the computer is trying to boot the floopy disk drive.

ANy tips/suggestions?

Thx in advance /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />  /laugh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

You used Boot and Nuke?

Quote
Darik's Boot and Nuke

Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot floppy that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.

Did you use the utility to destroy all data on the disk?

If not, and your running XP
You can try the following

Remove any discs you have in the computers floppy or Cd drives
Enter your Bios and change the boot order to first boot from CD
Boot from the windows XP CD, press the "R" key in the setup in order to start the restoration console.
Select your windows XP installation from the list
Eg.. Press 1 >>Then hit the <enter> key on keyboard
and enter the administrator password.

At the prompt type
FIXMBR <enter>
Hit Y <enter> then type exit <enter>

If that's no help you may have to reinstall the operating system
What operating system are you trying to install on the drive?
