The page that was referanced is just information on how the XP setupp.ini file works, what you need to do is copy the relevent setup folders into a HDD directory, create a win98 boot floppy ( as this is the most flexable OS) and edit autoexec.bat and config.sys into a format that you can choose whick OS you want to install.
This will require you to know how batch files work!!!!
I\'m going to make a cd up like this in a bit, so I have looked into the situalton , and it\'s possable, just takes a bit of work!
-
The_Flames, can you let us know you what you did please?
i mean can you post how you did it?
thanks and good luck

I have tried to make a moultiboot cd rom.I have managed to do it with disc emu and 2 image files(for win98 and me) and one extracted image(for either win xp or win2000)..Finaly I thought about creating a boot disk for win 98 that has the option run setup from cd rom...I made a winme setup disk ant then edited autoexec.bat in the function AUTOSETUP and changed the cd /WIN9X with cd /WIN98 because in this folder the windows were in the cd rom...It said winme setup files were not found...then I put win 98 in a folder named win9x and the setup started....when I use 3 os in one cd I can only put one of them in a folder named win9x.so this is not a solution..What am I doing wrong and cannot change the folder that autoexec is searching for the setup file???
The idea when I manage to do this is to create a new autoecex.bat and config.sys which wil go to each folder win98,winme,winxp and run the apropriate program for the setup...in the first 2 it neeeds to run setup.exe while for winxp or win2000 we have to go to i36folder and run winnt.exe....If that works we have a boot disk for the 3 os setup and all we have to do is burn it to a cd with nero, cdrwin or ecdc...
Any help is greatly appreciated
-
is there any clue how to do that?
-
NE1 got idea how to do win9x multiboot cd yet???
-
hey guys, don\'t worry. the solution is simple.
get a bootable winme cd.
use the boot extractor from the bart\'s site (www.nu2.nu) called bbie. rename the file created image1.bin to WME.IMG
extract the AUTOEXEC.BAT and edit the path FINDCD.EXE uses searching the file. the FINDCD.EXE searches the available cdrom\'s for the specified file and returns the drive letter containing it and stotes it in the cdrom variable. u can also use the FINDCD.COM from the bart\'s site, but the code for search and assinging of the cdrom driver letter should be changed to the one shown on the bart\'s site example. also change the path which the CD command uses to switch to the installation directory.
save the modified AUTOEXEC.BAT to the wme.img and then rename the extension back to .BIN/.DAT and call it from the DISKEMU.CMD file.
if the mentioned stuff is to complex for your, reply back and i\'ll email u the modified file.
bye.

Easy. Just burn the I386 cabs onto a CD, and then use something like EZCD Creator to make it bootable with a DOS floppy. I have 2 utility CD\'s I made that do just that. They contain unattended installs for 98SE, NT4 SP6, 2K Pro SP2, and Windows XP Pro (not to mention many more utilities that I use frequently).
Simply run WINNT.EXE from within DOS, and you\'re all set. Make your own ANSWER file, and you can walk away ( winnt.exe /u:d:answerfile.txt) while it installs.
Its nice that MS still allows you to begin these installs from within DOS.

It\'s no prob to fit XP, ME and 98 on a multiboot CD. However getting officeXP to fit is another matter. Click on my name at the bottom of this post to visit my site.
Step1. Build the XP image just like my site lists.
Step2. Go to the ME/9X page and follow the same instructions.
Step3. Go to the unattend section if you want and automate the whole thing.
Step4. Edit diskemu.cmd, run cdimage and burn.
Yeah, yeah over simplified but that is all you need.
I have an XP, 98 and 95 CD that I already made. Was not able to include much else though on that CD. Some updates I think using RestoreCD.

you know what....? you can build All-In-One Operating systems in to one disc (but required DVD-r) Now you have to make all bootable CD for all operating systems like (95-98-98SE-ME-NT-2000-XP home-XP Pro)
.....After you got 8 CDs....copy each CD into your hard disk first and Create Sub-folder for each of them then copy them into there own folder.
Use CD Menu-Creator 2002 Make your CD name it whatever you want.....target to link for each one have to link to SETUP.exe and make menu....(remember donot move your your sub-folder of 8 Windows to difference Drive.....just leave them where they were and open ECDC 5.1 platinum (this support for DVD-R) then ofcourse want to burn DVD-data.....copy 8 (windows) and the Menu contents all file into ECDC5.1 then burn them (whatever name of the you like) for example : 8inOne-WIN after burn sucessful close everthing and eject your DVD-R....put it back into your DVD-ROM and try to click on the button that your created from the MENU....and now you should have a perfect multi-Operating Systems 8inONE...
Remember: \"this is very hard and very techinical, try it from your DVD-RW first and following each step, you can\'t miss even a little step otherwise you have to start everything over and wasting your time\"
GoodLuck Guys!!!

DO I PUT THE I386 CAB FILES INTO A FOLDER NAMED FOR THE SPECIFIC OS OR PUT ALL I386 FILES IN SAME FOLDER FROM ALL THE OS\'S I WANT ON CD
-
may if anybody built this CD already post how do it here on this board ?

I finally got my CD .iso up and running and when I hit option 2 (which is 98SE install) I get
TOO MANY PARAMETERS
BAD COMMAND OR FILE
Any thoughts as to what I did wrong?
PS I used these instructions :http://www.tech-hints.com/
Damn worked so hard ,,,, I fell real close......
-
I too followed the guide on tech-hints, but my .iso is too big! For 98SE and ME I only have the install directories, but for XP I have the entire CD. I tried removing everything but the I386 folder, but it\'s still too big. I\'ve now deleted WIN9XMIG and COMPDATA, and it\'s still slightly too big. Can I delete any of the files in LANG? I want the computer to have UK English and Swedish languages...
Thanks!
Ozz
-
good luck..i tried that before.
i can get all the 2k\'s, me, 98se but can\'t get xp with anything more than 98se or me..not both
there is alot of things in the xp i386 dir you usually don\'t install by default..but good luck finding them out
-
btw you can safely overburn 20mbs on a cd..i had to for the cd with all the 2k\'s, me and 98se. i didnt have to but i kept something which i cant remember now.
you did delete the aol zhit right?
-
I have built a CD with 98SE Ar, Me Ar and Me English which can boot and install any one of these options unattended. I have also another option with the same CD + Floppy bootable, that let me fdisk and format + install any one of the 3 OSes unattended, even the fdisk and format are unattended , you just have to remove the Floppy after setup is done. To boot form HDD
-
Well, NE1 please from who done this CD can post the right way to do it here??
about Ar Me,98SE and Eng.....how you done that? can you post your way?
-
why not zip the files for each OS and include the old pkunzip.exe (older dudes know what I mean.) Then write a batch file that will unzip the OS of choice in a pre-defined directory, then it would be a matter of writing another batch file that will clean up the (pre-defined) temp directory afterwards. It would be easy to make a keypad driven menu, you know \"press 1 for SE, press 2 for ME\" etc. Everybody should learn how to write batch files, they are soooo easy, and ever so handy.
-
I followed the mulit 2k os way when posted almost a year ago.
i then added 98se and me.
i then added the boot floppy image that was suggested on Bart\'s page.
to install 2k i just choose install from the diskem1x
to install win98/me i just loaded the boot.img
after there i kept typing the regular cd command to find my drive with fdisk which was a:
i then used it to partition my hdd i wanted
then used FORMAT to format it and it was all over.
that is all you have to do...note there is now a way to have it done all for you but i like to have more control than that..
if you want you can do it either way...aslong as you have the boot.img(win98/me boot floopy image) on the cd with it you can do it no matter what.
editing the config.sys and autoexec.bat are optional...it can be done both ways
if you don\'t want to edit them it takes like a whole extra 5-10seconds to do it.
aslong as you know how to install 9x/me your ok. if you don\'t then doing it either way might me a task.
to install 9x/me is what i think most people are having problems with.
to do that all you have to do is load your boot.img, then type FDISK and follow the onscreen instructions. You want to delete all current partitions(this is optional however). Then you must create a PRIMARY DOS paritition. After that reboot. After reboot and back to the bootmenu reload your boot.img again but this time since you have already partitioned choose to format. Do that by typing FORMAT C: or whatever the drive letter is you wnat to format. After you have formatted you can run SETUP. To do that cd to the dir that your win9x/me install files are in and just type SETUP.
If you have more problems then it\'s user (your\'s) related.
That is how i did it and that is all that needs to be done ever when install 9x/me. You must follow the guide on how to make it multi with 2k/xp however for you must edit the .dat and the txtsetup.sif file.
hope that helps
-
It was real hard to make the format and fdisk unattended and independent of the size of the hdd for those who think to use fdisk 0 /PRI:xxx command!. And the format of a new HDD with unallocated space is also not this easy.
The installation for win9x is very easy. I created six entires in the config, sys menu ( this was the max number of entries I think), upon start up you choose which option u want, then I access the CDROM drive through autoexec, create a windowsoptionscabs directory on the c drive, copy the required files from the CD and then use setup to install windows. Of course of the copied filed there is a msbatch.inf file that holds all the answers...the whole process to explain will be very long...so clearify the points u need.

Hi,
I try to do a multiboot Win9x step by step like it says in www.tech-hints.com and it\'s all ok, but who do i burn the cd in NERO 5.5?
I put the setings ISO (with all files visible) and floppy emulation 1.44 and the iso image that i made and all others files in the root of the cd, but the machine does not boot from it.(the bios is set to boot from cd)
Help me please.
Thank you
-
Thanks for the answer.
I realy need a win98 /2000 boot disk.
I was practicing with a Win9x.
Could you tel me how to build a Win9X/2000 boot cd with:
unatended install for the both.
Thanks you very much.
-
first extract the boot sector from your orginal disc in let\'s say cdrwin. choose at the top extract sector\'s..(you\'ll find the screen in the same spot where you can extract to a .bin/.cue). this will work in the demo mode aswell. in cdrwin 4.0 or lower (get it at www.goldenhawk.com) (im using 3.9A btw). Install then choose the middle selection on top (Extract Disc/Tracks/Sectors). In there choose/toggle \"Select Sectors\". There in the Datatype pulldown and select \"Data Mode 1 RAW (2352). Then select in \"Sector Selection\" for start to be 20 and end to be 20. After there you have extract sector 20. Ok in nero open it up, on the left choose \"CD-ROM (Boot). Select/toggle \"Image file\" Then Browse to the sector20.bin or whatever you named it and select that. (you might have to rename it from .bin to .img...either way it works ive done it). Now in the ISO tab choose ISO Level 2 and Mode 1 and Joliet...leave the rest as default...then you can drag over your file\'s like normal and burn. That is the long way though..if you make the image with M$\'s CDIMAGE then all you have to do is select Burn Image from the file menu in nero and burn it. That is the only way you can do it if you have all 3 winwk\'s due to the linking that CDIMAGE does for you.
-
btw if you don\'t figure out how to extract sector 20 then i don\'t know if the below can help but why not....just copy over only the text from the below and paste it into a new text file. then import that text in a hex editor...i used Hex Workshop to make this btw...do not copy over any blank spaces\'...NONE.

I\'m sorry for the quick posting...delete that last one..i was thinking in a different mode :-). Copy the below here into a new text file...only the text no space\'s...and rename the .txt to whatever you want...for example in Hex Workshop (and most in the world) you would rename it to .hex. So rename the .txt to .hex and import it....remember only the data and no space\'s

Hey, if you already have that in a text file, just attach it to the post...there\'s a space at the end of each line right now, and it\'d take forever for someone to take all those out
-
O man im sooo sorry..im really strung out on C++ right now and can\'t think straight...the space\'s at the end of each line is ok. Atleast in Hex Workshop since it\'s been exported to a .hex that way it will import it that way. It\'s work\'s because that is what i have for the sector..i don\'t actually keep the sector20.bin file just that .hex file.
btw how do you attach a file..do i have to due i have to type in my ip and then the path from the modem? That make\'s now sense and probably wouldn\'t even work but im not too sure how to
do i have to register??? You know it\'s been over a year now and i have not had to register yet..btw i thank you for not requiring a register. You obvious know that alot of people that could help might just be too lazy to register and not post.

I don\'t think it is possible to have such an option, but for our purposes we don\'t care . A win2000 setup will run fine from a win9x boot disk. But to incorporate a native 2000 and a dos boot disk together is not possible as far as I know. The files in 2000 are more than a floppy disk can handle. So stick with a bootable 98 and use the batch file to launch winnt.exe unattended.txt command.
U have to look for a utility in 2000 resource kit that will generate for u the unattended.txt file.
There is also a utility in the win9x resource kit that will generate the msbatch.inf file.
U will have to look for them.
2000 and XP true bootable CD is also not possible in my opinion because of differences in the booting files and process. I may be mistaken but prove that I am wrong!
-
Hi,
you say \"extract the boot sector from your orginal disc\", but what disc do you meen?
in this case i have two original discs, Windows 98 and Windows Me.
And when i get the boot sector, how can i do to put all the other stuf (unattended, ext).
I meen, i was try to do it with the Diskemu program like in www.tech-hints.com.

I mean the orginal 2k disc if you have one..
the post before the last one on here had the hex for the boot sector of a NT5 disc(2k/xp).
if you copy all that hex reference the
:blahblahblh
:blahbalhb
:blahbl
copy all that..paste it into a text file and import that into a hex editor there you will see load the boot sector...at the end you will see the BIN that you can edit. After that save the file as sector20.dat and choose to use that in cdimage.
if you mean just a 98x/me disc well that is easy because all you need is a 98 boot floppy image.
any more ? than that im a bit confused
Diskem1x is a boot manager more or less. that lets you boot any disc if your bios can boot from a disc. after booting that disc you can type q to escape to command prompt then RUN SECTOR20.DAT and it will start the 2k/xp setup. Or you can type RUN 98BOOTIM.IMG (or .IMA or whatever) and then it would start the 98 boot floopy. it can RUN any uncompressed image\'s as if your computer was booting from a real floopy or disc
you can of course make a menu in there too editing the .cmd and make it more user friendly but you don\'t have too. I have made several image\'s where i tangled up the .CMD menu options so i have to escape to command prompt and RUN.
after booting the disc off diskem1x.bin, then running, let\'s say a 98BOOTIM.IMG your cdrom is usually D:. you can ofcourse set this to whatever you want but that is it usually unless you edited yourself.
-
I just read your post again about a true xp 2k boot cd not being possible...what do you mean?
it is all allocated through plain text in certain text files what goes where. In 2k/xp its the txtsetup.sif..in 9x i can\'t remember what it is.
you can do whateve you want.
also what is at hand here is using diskem1x.bin. this can run boot.img\'s up to 2.88 so your right a actual image of 2x install disk\'s is not possible. would of been if he had added the hot swap floopy option but unfortunately development stoped right before that option was incorporated.
anyhow that is not need either. the sector of a 2k/xp install disc comes from the 20th sector on the orginal 2k/xp disc. You can however copy and paste my above post of the sector in hex and import that into a hexeditor and edit the part about .BINI386 to whatever you want. Like .BINMOSS (Multi OS setup) and have that point to whatever directory contains the setup files. to get those setup files you ahve to extract all the boot floopies for the 2k/xp setup toa director. Then you edit inside there the txtsetup.sif file to point to the directory conataing the actual 2k/xp setup. in other words the root directory containing the i386 folder. which would most likely be for win2k pro UENGLISHWPR.
whatever...it is all relevant to a text file somewhere...actual boot/setup floopies are NOT needed with the diskem1x.bin.
this has all been panned out atleast 2 times in the multi os thread located here that has been viewed more than 150,000 times. It actually starts out on the topice and solves the issue...then spreads into hot fix\'s and zhit like that....and starts all over again like nobody even read the first 20 page\'s of it and just repeated the same ?\'s over and over again. Like a loop was stuck in the post and there was never a IF statement to escape the loop.
READ the first 20 page\'s of that thread or better yet the entire thing if you have any more ?\'s because this all was covered in that thread.
don\'t ask how to choose a setup directory in winxp either...it\'s not possible without the help of a OEM disc that is rare or a 32bit win enviroment to start the install from....so don\'t bother on that.

Hi,
First, i want to make a question,i have win2k with SP 1 integreted, its make eny diferent to have the boot sector that you post to me here and the boot sector that y realy have in my CD?
Second,
My real and only problem, is that i have build a ISO image that contains tree IMA images one for DOS, one for Win98, and one that i\'m going to do with the boot sector and everithing of win2k and the diskemu1x.bin, loader.bin (files downloaded for www.tech-hints.com) and instalation files of the win98 and win2k.
Then i build the iso image with Cdimage.
The problem is that i can\'t burn right the iso image.
I had try the image in Virtulal PC and it works OK.
But at the time of the burn does not work.
Y had try in NERO 5.5 like you say (File menu / Burn Image) but it does not work.
Y had try only with win98 and DOS ima Images (in a ISO image) first to try and in Virtual PC works, but not when i burn it.
Thanks.
-
I\'m Sorry i forget \"Diskemu.cmd\" in the files that i have include in the iso image that i mentined before.
-
Ok Ok.
First why are making a floppy image of the 2k install disk\'s?? like i said you don\'t need to in fact if CAN\'T. All the floppy image\'s for a 2k/xp install won\'t fit in the maximum file size for a floppy image (2.88MB) in diskem1x. Like i said above aswell.
Second why are you making a floppy for 98 and dos aswell?Ok my guess might be that you do what i do and make a MS-DOS 6.22 image and a 98 (MS-DOS 7.1) floppy image. In this case you have to do that because 98, to my knowledge, will not format a FAT16 file system so you have to have the 6.22 FORMAT. If this is not the case, and you don\'t want DOS 6.22, then you can use the same one for 98 and DOS. To do this you would enable a timeout or choice method in your autoexec.bat so that you would have a certain amount of time to press some button or you would proceed after a timeout into a 98 install setup. You coulde even with the CHOICE option disable the timeout and make the user type a key to choose wether or not he wanted to boot to a 98 install or just to command prompt. 98 supports the CHOICE method. Here\'s a actual example that would work if your naming scheme is the same. This would give you 9 seconds to choose a option or it would timeout and choose :install which is the win98 setup
@echo off
echo.
echo.
echo Please press i to begin windows 98se setup
echo Or press q to quit to command prompt
echo
echo
choice \"Install 98se or go to command prompt?\" /cqi /tn,9
If errorlevel 2 goto install
If errorlevel 1 goto cmd
:install
d:UENGLISHWIN98SESETUP.EXE
goto end
:cmd
goto end
:end
Keep in mind you\'ll probably want to partition with FDISK and run FORMAT.COM first before install win98se.
You might want to call this .bat file even...most likely not though.
here is the cmd line in cdimage i run in my cdimage.bat file to make the image. NOTE: you have to of course change it so it match\'s your directories.
j:cdimage -lLuciusxoOS -t05/15/2001,12:00:00 -g -h -n -o -w1 -m -bJ:LOADER.BIN j:ROOT x:freaky.iso
Three. About that post above about the .hex file with the
:blah
:blah
:blah
:all the way down to the end.
This is the hex for sector 20 out of a winnt5.x (to date) REAL cd. Like the kind you bought or whatever. You can extract it or just copy the first line in the above post to the last line...paste it into a .txt file, rename it to a .hex file and import it in any hex program...i use Hex Workshop myself since it was the first i used and most comfortable with. (It\'s old though might not be as good as the newer ones...i think the last update to Hex Workshop might of been like 3 years ago or something).
Four. Ahead\'s Nero 5.5. I don\'t know. If i do like i said and goto file, burn image that work\'s for me. With the image that i create with CDIMAGE by running that command line it has burned it right from 5.0 and above. I never tried in 4.x...although i would love to have my hands on a copy Nero 4.x demo for it\'s the last version to have a complete, actually any, documentation on it\'s cmd line switch\'s.
Side note if you can find the cmd switch reference for 5.x i would love that because i cant\' track it down worth zhit.
If you use the cmd line for CDIMAGE that i use and it still does not work...in this case it might very well be your burner not supporting something. I use the default option\'s Nero gives, gave me ( I use discjuggler now...hand\'s down the most POWERFULL software out there...cdrwin is good too). All the defaults it load\'s after i choose my freak.iso is what i use. I don\'t change anything. I do make sure however that
YOU CHOOSE DAO not TAO...track at once...and it might not work. (DAO96 if possible...that\'s what i use but i also have used the plain DAO)

is there any way to make a Windows 2000 SP3 & Windows XP SP1 Multiboot cd?

wassup wid that? did i make a wrong volume label?
-
how did u make answer files for 98se and win2k?
-
i made a bootable cd that would install 3.1 95osr2 98se and me....i made a win 98 floppy boot disk and modified the autoexecbat and configsys to run a debug script and install that various o.s\'s for example..in my config.sys when u chose install win 98 it would run the command %cdrom%w98sesetup.exe /ie /is......and that would start the 98 install...but the I386 folder on the xp cd is too big to add all those o.s\'s ...its a logistics issue..unless u are gonna burn to a dvd disk that will hold more trhan a gig
-
Even then your better off, if you use a pretty popular version of XP Pro Corp. not to do it at all...but to upgrade to sp1 after install..it can get sticky if you don\'t
-
I only have a doubt, all of this instructions are for fill just one CD or, I got to burn many CD\'s?
-
how can i do that ??
-
I want to create a CD with Win98 and XPpro on it. I want it to be bootable to dos. The version of dos has to be able to run the win98 setup. I haven\'t got a floppy drive. Does anyone know where i can download an image file from?

-
Why don\'t you try :

-
You should have a floppy drive.
Is your pc a lappy with a swappable cd and floppy drive?
you can download tons of floppy disk boot images that you can put on CD from:
www.bootdisk.com
-
I\'m also trying this multiboot project with just win9x right now. I get an error of.... \' label \"w98\"or \"w95\" or \"wme\" not found\' depending on my menu selection. I used the instructions from tech-hints.com. I don\'t know where the problem is. Any ideas?
TIA
Jim

try this, is so easy, i have win95, win98, win98se, win2k all in one CD, and about 120 mb free space on disc, wish i had another OS to include it:

If you want to Build Xp Pro+Xp Home or NT based systems on 1 CD, you must look for each operation systems full package CD, search for I386 folders and add WIN51 WIN51IC WIN51IP (or like these small files which is not in any folders) Also if you want to make a Corporate Edition of XP (without activation timer) you Also have the cd called \"DevilsOwn\" which has all the 8 Corporate files (dpcdll,setupreg.hiv,oembios.da,oembios.ca,oembios.bi,oembios.si,pidgen.dll,setu
pp.ini) Make a Root folder under your Hard Drive. Make the folders for each OS(make a simple and short names for each). Put the right I386 folders from original CDs (and the small files) to each of the folders you make. Also for each OS you have to make another folder which must be 4characters long (because I386=4 characters) Find the minimal devices for each OS. (you can search microsofts site for this-first you make the 6floppies and then copy the folders to your 4characters long folders) Copy the setupldr.bin and txtsetup.sif from each OS\'s original I386 folder. With using a hexeditor look into the setupldr.bin. Search for I386 (4 times) Change only these I386 with your folder names (4charcters only!) Don\'t make other changes, save the setupldr.bin\'s. Also open each txtsetup.sif. Search for SetupSourcePath and change \"/\" to \"/yourOSfoldernamehere/\" This OS folder has the original untouched I386. Also add setupreg.hiv to the 4characters long folders. Then put diskem1x.bin loader.bin and extra boot files needed. Change the DAT files. w2ksect.DAT (or like these names) Change the last XXXX (after setupldrbin.bootfix.binXXXX) to your folders. (You can find these boot files form searching the net for Bart\'s way.) If you have still trouble try this page: http://members.rogers.com/khauyeung/kh.htm (http://\"http://members.rogers.com/khauyeung/kh.htm\")

How do you make nt4sp6 install cd from NT4 CD and SP6a file from Microsoft? In otherwords, I have NT install CD which does not have any service pack and I\'ll have to apply SP6a after completing the install. How do I make NT4 install CD in such a way that I do not need to apply SP6a? It\'ll make the NT install with SP6a in one shot.
Thanks.

Any windows 98 startup disk alone is enough to use to program or repair any Windows above 95, including XP. I\'ve tried using the others, but 98 is the ultimate!

GO ON TO THE INTERNET AND TYPE MULTIBOOT CD IN YOUR SEARCH BOX AND THEN CLICK THE LINKS. THERE LOTS OF LINKS WHICH TELL HOW TO DO THIS.

i\'am not sure of this idea that i send to this reply but maybe it could be researched into something useful in some way shape or form. in fact it just might be another stupid idea that i had entered. i\'am not the greatest but at most times i do happen to come up with some pretty good ideas at times so if this dosn\'t work then im sorry for the reply but here it is.
(i imagine that it\'s like the the police station telephone recorder
and your liquar store vcr recorder, when you slow down the speed of your motor of the recorder you are able to fit more data to the device of choice such as cd or video tape ext....
and like everyone else has said there is a lil bit of programing involved. and to the best of my knowledge the dvd records has a possiable slow speed that could or might accomplish this task for putting data to a slow speed or divix recorder records even slower yet. i think with the mixture of these combinations and some programing of the software and how you put it to cd so they don\'t creat a conflict that this once conflicting task with the new technoligy that this could be a very good possiablity.)
-
have you ever made a bootable dvd with an os on it?
-
Can if fit to a cd-r ;
cd-r usually contion 700MB,but 98 and XP will fill up it.
how can you add WinMe into it?
-
Seems to me that this way is too difficult, and complicated, you should try this \"bootable CD wizard\" at this site:
http://bootcd.narod.ru/ (http://\"http://bootcd.narod.ru/\")
In Russian language but with included translator for english and others.
It took me ten minutes (AFTER I HAD ALL THE OPERATING SYSTEMS FOLDERS READY)to burn.
I'm going to make a cd up like this in a bit, so I have looked into the situalton , and it's possable, just takes a bit of work!
how to make the bootable floppy or cd for win xp ?

Copy all WinXp cd to Root
Copy Win98SE Cabs to Win98SE folder under root
I created following dir structure
CD-ROOT : WinXP CD Files
----DOCS
----SUPPORT
----i386
----VALUEADD
----<Other WinXP files>
----Win98SE (Folder having CABs)
----Extra Software Folder
You can always add extra OS as long as your CD space permits (Upto 800MB today).
Next thing to do is create a bootable floppy disk from Win98SE Control Panel>>Add Remove Programs.
Search for SMARTDRV.EXE and CHOICE.COM in Windows 98 system and copy those files to your bootable floppy.
Now edit config.sys so that following lines are there

Enter your Win98SE CD-Key in Product key which i have given as "xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx"
If you want to enter product key at time of installation then delete line containing ProductKey in [SETUP] section.
Also create an empty file and save it in Win98SE with name "empty.inf"
For WinXp use following answer file
Save this file in i386 folder

Enter your CD-Key in section as ProductKey
Else delete that line.
Now some final words :
Win XP takes some 500MB with all languages.
Win98SE will take 121MB,
So u have nearly 80MB Extra
Best software to be on CD are
-- Internet Explorer 6
-- DirectX9
-- Windows Media Player 9 for Win9x
-- Windows Media Player 9 for WinXP
-- Your Display Card/Sound Card/Modem/Motherboard/LAN Card drivers.
-- Winamp 2.91 (It shows video too)
Put whatever you like.
Use bootable floppy and create the CD using Nero or any other software which supports bootable CD creation.
Best of luck.

I have a Multi-OS Disk, I created just for that purpose. On it is Win 98, WinME, and WinXP (Ver1 has Home Ver2 has Pro). What I did was created a batch file with 3 Choices. (98 ME or Readme). Notice XP is not on there. I then load up a clients choice OS onto a machine. If they want multiple OS, I always load up the lesser of the 3 (98 or ME). Once finished, and ready to go, I then start up XP from the CDROM. There I have choices to start an upgrage or throw in a new installation. It runs as if you "Press any key to boot from CD" after the installions files copy onto the HD. I'll do a step by step on my site on geocities, for anyone interested by Oct 20, 03. I will also show how to make Win98 and WinME work in a multi boot enviroment.
www.geocities.com/guideferret/howto is where it will be
good luck.
