If this site is so bad, why are you here in the first place? And what have YOU done to make it a better place? Have you reported any posts? Made any suggestions (preferably in the proper forum, i.e. Site Feedback)? No, you just want to be popular too, so you make your own free forum and do whatever you can to get someone to visit it.
Again, I don't forbid talking about other sites (many, many forums will ban all website links). I also don't forbid you talking bad about the site (check Site Feedback, some people have complained there, their posts haven't been deleted). I WON'T tolerate someone talking bad about this site just to promote theirs. I consider that spamming, and will react accordingly.

Spam is pretty easy to pick out, just like the first example of scamming. I don't have to wait and see if other people agree that it was spam. It's right there, in the spammer's own words, for anyone to see. It wasn't in a conversation elsewhere, then a screenshot made, then posted here. The spammer posted it right here, in black and white.
We have a zero tolerance policy on both scammers and spammers. If I know you're spamming or scamming, you're outta here. Now, I don't always catch it right away (for all the complaints, hardly anyone uses the report button, which brings a post to my immediate attention), plus I'm the only one who can do a true ban (where it shows up under their username). It's possible that others have been banned, but a regular moderator did it, in which case technically they were suspended for a set amount of time (a suspension that lasts until say, 2034 is as good as a permanent ban in my opinion), and it will NOT show up under their username. So it's possible that some of these scammers/spammers are being banned without you knowing it. If you see them still posting and everyone knows they're a scammer/spammer, then report their posts, pm a mod, etc. Don't just grumble about it.

BTW, just came to me...the trader feedback forum wasn't made to notify mods and myself about scammers, though perhaps that needs to be rethought now that I think about it. Its function was to let users get a general feel about a person before they made a trade. Just because someone said someone else scammed them, doesn't make it true. If you see one or two posts saying a certain user is a scammer, but dozens saying they had a successful trade, then you would probably feel ok doing a trade (the one or two posters saying they were scammed were perhaps scammers themselves, trying to show off, or whatever). If you see a lot of different people saying a certain user scammed them, then you'd probably shy away from dealing with them. Again, that was that section's purpose, there may be a better way for me to do things.

Sometimes I can't do an ip ban because it would affect a LOT of innocent people (aol is bad about using a handful of ip addresses for a lot of people, everyone has their own ip when they dial up but instead of connecting to the site directly it may go through one of aol's proxy/cache servers, so I get that ip instead).
We do what we can, it's not perfect, but we do try. And no, HyBryMonster was not given a warning. Like I said, zero-tolerance for spamming and scamming (means, no warnings, no second chances, if there's no doubt to me that you scammed or spammed, you're outta here). I know some posts have been iffy, but if you talk trash about this forum just to get someone to join yours, that's spam in my book. If you want to tell everyone about your new site, just go to Idle Chat, tell people about it (without dissing any other site/forum out there), and you're fine.
