Title: It WAS the cpu!!
Post by: Anonymous on April 28, 2002, 06:10:52 PM
A few months ago I posted a question in this forum about how the sound on my computer was all messed up, and how I  had replaced almost everything in my computer except the cpu and  tried everything I could to fix it. The general consenses here was that it couldn\'t be the cpu.

I  finally broke down out of desperation and brought the box into  a profesional to find out what the problem was.

Well, all along the sound problems were caused by a partly burnt cpu. The cpu had a little brown spot on the underside  right in center, under (and trough) a sticker. The computer ran fine except for the sound. Once the cpu was replaced (with an even faster one : ) the sound was normal. Sounds weird, but it\'s true.

Now I have a 1.7 GHZ cpu instead of a 1.4 and I had them replace the _LOUD!!!_cpu fan with a nice, cheap, quiet one. The computer is no louder than my 400MHZ k6-2 pc was. I also have 2 azza MB\'s with a via chipset gathering dust because I kept replacing them, being sure it was the MB\'s fault. I\'m not complaining though, I have a nice, fast gaming pc and wanted to set the record straight and let those who don\'t know (I didn\'t), that a bad cpu can cause weird, isolated problems.
