Title: Win32.P2P-Worm.ALCAN.A

I have some how aquired win32.P2P-worm.alcan.a and my computer would open and re-open limewire even after I removed it from start up and modified its options. I removed limewire from my computer, but my Ctrl+Alt+Delete Still won't work, and Ad-aware still says the worm is still present in my system.

I've also looked at other peoples post who seem to have the same objective. It seems that there are different ways to fix this problem according to the log file. Heres my log file from HijackThis!

Download and save [color=\"red\"]Brute Force Uninstaller[/color] (http://\"http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip\")[/b] to the desktop

Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
Click "Next"
In the box to choose where to extract the files to, click "Browse"
Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is>>In your case it appears to be F:\
Click "Make New Folder"
Type in BFU
Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".

[color=\"red\"]RIGHT-CLICK HERE[/color] (http://\"http://metallica.geekstogo.com/alcanshorty.bfu\")[/b] and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download [color=\"red\"]Alcan worm remover[/color].
Save it then transfer to the
same folder you made earlier (F:\BFU).

Go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the F:\BFU folder.

Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
Next to the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon (http://metallica.geekstogo.com/foldericon.png)
and select alcanshorty.bfu
Press Execute and let it do it's job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

Reboot your computer

Ensure that Ad-Aware SE Personal is right up to date
Run a Full system scan and clean all Critical objects

Reboot your computer again afterwards

Come back here and post a fresh hijackthis log

I made ad-aware run a scan, and it says its all clear

I would still do the following
[color=\"blue\"]Your Java Runtime Environment is out of date.[/color] Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

[color=\"blue\"]Updating Java:[/color]

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (http://\"http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp\").
Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Enviroinment (JRE) 6, The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement[/i]".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save it to your desktop (12.6 MB).
Close any programs you may have running - especially any web browsers.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.

You have Hijackthis set to run on startup, you may have unintentionally set this
This is optional, you can leave this set if you want, but if not wanted
Navigate to this MyDocuments folder that has a second copy of Hijackthis.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\HijackThis.exe
Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>MAIN
Uncheck "Run Hijackthis at Startup............"

Reboot the computer after doing any or all of the above

Install the latest version of Java

I see you may not have any AntiVirus software installed
If this is correct, and you don't have your own
You should install one of these free versions
ONLY install one active AntiVirus software, more than one can cause conflicts and system instabilities

Run a Complete system scan with your new AV that you choose, reboot afterwards

In addition, if you don't have this free piece of software
Install
SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 by JavaCool (http://\"http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html\")

After installation, Check for updates
After updating, select "Protection" on the Left
Then select "Enable all Protection"
"Check for updates every couple of weeks"
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"

didn't send me the actvation key that I need to finish the installation. Its been 3 hours since the initial download. I think it might be my e-mail, since most services don't allow the e-mail I have to be used anymore. Should install a different one from the list? Hi again Synethic, I'm glad you chose Active virus shield
If you have any questions about let me know please
I use it on one of my computers and I have became very Happy with it

I think I'll make it my normal AV

Don't forget, Kapersky's, I mean AOL AV is normally set to scan startup objects on startup
You may notice some computer usage at this time, if you want, you can disable that, but I advise to keep
auto updates and a regular weekly scan enabled
