Title: laptop screen damage! please help...

when i look at my screen from certain angles i see an area that appears to be brighter than the rest of the display.  to being with i thought it was merely dirty.  i\'ve tired cleaning it several times though with no results.  do you think my problem is with the hardware?  do most laptop screens go like this or is it something i did?
