Title: windows xp preinstallation cd
Post by: unclefester on August 02, 2002, 08:51:03 AM
Hey, guys.  I have a couple of questions that maybe you can answer.  I have the windows XP OEM preinstallation CD and am trying to install it on a computer.  The computer is compatible with XP.  My two questions are as follows:

First, should I have only the one CD labeled OEM preinstallation kit?

Second, when the program starts, a window opens (it looks like a dos window) and after it enters \"factory -winpe\" it hangs at the dos prompt.  I cannot find winnt.exe anywhere, which I read somewhere could help.  Any advice to get me past this sticking point?  Thanks.

Assuming the xp OEM preinstallation kit cd is the same/similar to 2000 OEM preinstallation kit then what you have is a cd with some documents and tools such as htmlhelp and stuff for branding the pre-install. None of the actual install files at all are on this cd.
Not sure what programme is starting when you run the disc though. I\'ve used a 2000 OEM kit cd and that doesn\'t have anything on it that autoruns.
