Title: Xp CRACK Hex?
Post by: daddyb29 on August 20, 2002, 04:59:02 AM
I understand what needs to be done with winlogon but I\'m stuck at the point of editing the damn thing. Finding the place 39660 {or 39662} isnt a problem but when it comes time to replace such and such bits with the others I just dont get it cause nothing looks anything like 8B D1 57 33 C0......AND THE ASCII [censored] on the other side may have something to do with it, but like I said, I\'m totally lost. Could someone please help clear it up for me a little better.
Thanks Alot

It would be useful if your HexEditor had a find command. Then you can tell it to find the first piece. When it has found it, overwrite it with the second piece.

Ive never used a hex code editor that didn\'t have a editor actually. Usually it\'s ctrl+f or ctrl+s to find or search, from there you can in some and most of some use find/search and replace. If you know the exact hex value in the memory then just search on that in HEX mode not ascii or binary or anything else.  I have no idea what you trying to do but it sounds really simple even for a first time user of hex editing. Just find the command. I use and trust a program called Hex Workshop from www.bpsoft.com i like it\'s interface. There is i GUESS more powerfull one\'s but for me ive never needed anything else. Some have good debugging option\'s but for that you would just use a better sole debugger like softice or whatever.
