Title: Installing DOS 6.22...ive never done it but...
Post by: Space Between on September 05, 2002, 10:41:00 AM
Im looking to add 6.22 on my multidisk. Ive got the Twinkie image that loads dos but that is dos 7.1 (win98) version.
I want to add the option of DOS 6.22 to that cd. Now ive never installed 6.22 but i read the book on how to. it says the following

boot first image. escape the rest of the setup. then choose to copy command.com to the hdd (c:). After that copy all files for setup to the dir (c:dos). after that delete the command.com in your c:dos. After that do
COPY con c:autoexec.bat
path=c:dos
^Z

ok i understand this. But what im confused on is that the fact that you must first format the hdd with a DOS 6.22 partition. Ok i understand that but if i install win2k afterwards how will it boot? being i install win2k on a NTFS partition i understand i must make another partition with NTFS but how will theboot load work? Will my MBR be wiped out that has DOS 6.22 or win2k? How should i work the dual with both partitions with dos and 2k. Note i would like to add a win98 install aswell which i understand will have to be FAT32 aswell. So im looking at 3 partitions but don\'t understand how to boot. I might added LInux aswell so i would have to partitions for that. I know i have to make a common Parition also that will be FAT16 to share files (I think i have to do this). So im looking at 4-7 partitions but confused on how to handle the booting.
