Title: XP Home not recognising my second HD?
Post by: Anonymous on September 06, 2002, 11:30:40 AM
Hi,

I have recently had to replace my primary HD and reinstall windows XP Home. All is now working well except that XP does not recognise that I have a second HD installed (which was working well before).

It is however recognised in Hardware Profile but the Device Usage drop down is greyed out.

My question is how do I get the second HD up and running properly?

Many thanks.

Did you set it up(jumpers on the harddisk) as a slave , as it was set up as a master before .

Try formating the HD.  If the drive is unformatted, system will see it, but the OS won\'t recognize it.

I agree with rdc, try setting your jumpers to SLAVE and is it connected properly ( pin 1 to pin 1 )

or try putting your 2nd HD on the IDE2 controller

RDC is right. Also check in BIOS to see if the second HD is recognised there. If not it is not installed right.
