Title: turning cd-rom into a dvd player? Is it possible!

Is there any kind of software out there.  that i can use to play dvd\'s?  help out here thanks!

OK, since nobody takes time to reply to this...

No, but if you heat your dvd in the microwave at 500 Watts for about 2 minutes then the tracks will greatly expand and they\'ll play in your CD-ROM.

THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN A CD-ROM INTO A DVD DRIVE. This would be like asking if I can convert my crappy 4x LiteOn CD-ROM into a 16x-Plextor-Burner. Go out and spent $100 on a dvd drive!

Actually, one can be had for about $50-$60.  If DVD is all you want, a 4x will be more than fast enough for you.

You could be surprised. Some of the 8x LiteON writers can be converted to 12x by using the 12x firmware.

Disclaimer - dont try this because i said so.
