I would take the Nindento DS over a PsP because the games suck for PsP.

Trust me I had both, I played the PSP for awhile but the bad loading times, and generally mediocre games, don't make up for the graphics at all. I sold my PSP and now I just have the DS, and couldn't be happier, I have a laptop (OMG portable movies?) and a MP3 player (music too!?!) so the PSP's extra functionality really doesn't make a huge difference to me personally. That and the games for the DS are infinitely better. You may think that you don't like the touchscreen, but it adds a new element to the interactivity of gaming that no handheld has ever seen, and it is great how compatible it is with the Wii.
In my Opinion you can take the PSP and throw it in the junk pile, on top of all of those unused PS3's. I mean, I loved the PS2, but with Sony pissing off all of the game developers and losing their exclusives (They said they were releasing the PS3 the same day as the 360, and so people made their games for both consoles, when the PS3 was delayed for almost a year, it meant game developers had a ton of unsold PS3 games, and lost a bunch of money) their console has turned into a steaming pile of crap making itself the worst console next to Pillips CDI.
So yes, if you want mediocre games with bad gameplay, and ok looking graphics, then run out and by a psp! If you want a unique, fun and interesting handheld with a plethora of deep story compelled games, but also a ton of quick, easy to pick up and play games that are a ton of fun, I would highly recommend the Nintendo DS.

The ds is a good hand held machine, and has "mario" and "zelda" one of my 2 favorite franchises.
But the lack of features makes me go for PSP.
