Can you boot to safe mode?
Ensure you try this, it's important
-
It wont let me log in safe mode, It just freezes..
-
Are you giving it enough time to boot to safe mode?
At the startup screen, instead of selecting safe mode, can you select "Last know good configuration"?
Did you disconnect all hardware from the computer you don't need plugged in
Eg.. Printer
-
Now its just turning off...It turns off when i booted it into Safe mode, Everything was out.
-

-
I've just tried, Its frozen..
-
Do you have anything on the computer you need to save?
Is a clean install an option? If you can
-
No, theres no clean install option, I dont need to save nothing, I can get it back on the web..
-
Aha, I got a boot menu up
1. IDE 0: Hitachi HTS541212H9AT00- (PM
2. IDE 1: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K16RS - (PM
<Enter Setup>
-
Did you actually try booting to safe mode earlier?
Select 1. IDE 0: Hitachi HTS541212H9AT00
After you select it start tapping the F8 key on the keyboard then select Safe mode from the list
-
Just doing the same as what it done last time..
-
No, theres no clean install option, I dont need to save nothing, I can get it back on the web..
What do you mean by that??
-
AHA! I let it run when it was saying stuff likeSafe mode, Safe mode with command prompt, it didn't freeze, Ill tell you if its loading onto windows
That i dont have anything I NEED really, I can just download it again.
Edit: its not freezing..its just using the bar..again..and its not really loading..
Oh, its still freezing when i press enter to ir, rather then leaving it.
-
Oh, its still freezing when i press enter to ir, rather then leaving it.
Again, I don't know what you mean by that
Can you or can't you get it to load with safe mode command prompt??
I'm leaving for a bit, I'll be back in about an hour
Slow down and explain more clearly please
-
I cant load it with nothing, If i leave it, the timer will load it, it wont freeze it looks like it just goes into a loop (The bars at the Windows XP screen).
-
its most likely the RAM that is what happened on my computer because i had too many files on it or something like that... just try adding more ram to it
-
hmm my main computer just did same exact thing
if you dont care about your files you can crash and reboot your computer
(mine didnt beep though) maybe cos sound was off or w.e
-
I know this may be a silly question
Are you running on battery, or are you plugged in to a wall outlet?
-
Yes, Its a laptop. Its on a battery.
-
Just try something
Enter your bios setup
On your Acer it should be the F2 key when booting up
After it loads
Exit out of there and see if the computer will boot
Did you get a Recovery CD with your laptop?
-
Yeah ive got the Recovery disks..
-
Boot from the CD
Here's what I found for Acer recovery
Press <Alt> + <F10> to open the Acer eRecovery Management utility.
Enter the password to proceed. The default password is six zeros.
In the Acer eRecovery Management window, select Recovery actions and
click Next.
Select the desired restore action and follow the onscreen instructions to
complete the restore process.
-
Yes, but it doesn't load onto the desktop, Since it doesn't load.
-
Set the bios to boot from CD first
Put disk in CD drive
reboot the computer
Follow the on screen instructions
EDIT>>I believe, you also have a recovery partition on the hard disk
If for whatever reason you can't repair or reinstall XP with CD
The method I posted earlier would be your next step
pressing ALT-F10 at the Acer boot screen may bring up the recovery window
This should set the operating system back to factory defaults
-
I totally forgot all about this
Yes, Its a laptop. Its on a battery.
Try plugging the power cord in if you haven't done a recovery yet, or did you try that?
-
No i didn't try that..Also, Its not the "Offical" recovery disks..Its a RW Copy.
But, I do havea Windows Xp disk to reload windows, Should i try that..?
Try plugging the power cord in if you haven't done a recovery yet, or did you try that?
I did.
-

Oh, what probably happened, is when you first got your laptop, you were bugged to create those backup disks
You did and that is what you can use
So go ahead and try using those RW's
If it is a DVD rewriteable it will probably be only one disc, if it's a Cdrw probably 2 of them
So boot up with the backup disk and follow the prompts
If you get to a spot your unsure about, post back and let me know the exact step your having problems with
