I have recently moved my Full WinXP Pro installation from one system, to an identical system exept fpr the mainboard. It is an Asustek A7V333 and was an Asustek A7V266E.
The Win XP installation is on a Scsi drive attatched to a Tekram U3W Scsi controller. I did not Ghost, just simply moved the drive, cable, controller and terminator to the new system.
I plugged it all in and it wouldnt boot. Got INVALID BOOT DISK.
Booted from floppy, and no problems, i can access the SCSI drive and files. I have set all of the BIOS up properly so the SCSI device is the first boot option and the SCSI Controller is setup fine too. There are no other Hard disks attatched.
I took some advice and performed a repair install of WinXP Pro from the CDROM. And now it boots to the XP desktop just fine and i can use windows and all my hardware again!Yey!
Except that i have to have the WinXP Pro CDROM in the drive to do this....... otherwise i get the same old Invalid bot disk problem. It seems to be only accessing the Cdrom for a second and then booting XP from the Hard drive as normal.
Anyone know why it wants to check the CD first and what it\'s loading off there ? Or how to fix it, so i can boot completely from Hard disk ?
Thanks.
