Alright, I\'m building the new server for the site. I\'m thinking of the MSI KT3 Ultra. Good price, good features. Now I want to use linux\'s software raid. If I do this, I need both drives on separate ports. So where would I put the cd drive? If I attach the CD drive, it\'ll slow down everything on that cable (i.e., instead of almost 50MB/s transfer, we\'ll be topped out at 33 on that drive). I could either a) leave the cd-rom disconnected, only connect for emergencies (this is a webserver after all, would only need the CD drive for a restore) or
/cool.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'B)\' /> get the KT3 Ultra ARU for $12 more. It has raid ports, so I\'ll have plenty of ports. I wouldn\'t use the RAID ports as raid though, they\'d be used as standard ide ports (linux would do the raid in software).
Thoughts?
