Title: I need advice!!!!!
Post by: kuma on October 02, 2007, 03:38:53 PM
Ok im in a tough spot.

I'm sellling my rs account that is worth 800 uds approx.  I have had one person offer me 750 usd for it.  I want to accept the offer but i'm worried that he will scam me.  He said we can use an official mm.  He also said that we can use paypal or mail a check.  If we used paypal is there a way that he can take the money back????  Or if he sent a check to the mm is there a way he could right a bad check??

I need some replies from some experienced ppl that have done many transactions.  Also a reply from an elite antiscammer or forum mod would be very helpful.  I need to sell the account for college textbooks and i really dont want to be scammed.

Thank you all for looking And thank you ahead of time for any advice.

Not completely sure, but people can chargeback on paypal. Im pretty sure theres a method you can do to prevent that, not sure though.

^I dont go on MSN much anymore...too many people asking me too many questions...lol

but this is a field I know alot about, i recently lost $933 to a chargeback...

Don't use paypal...ever...way too risky...all they have to do is claim they didnt recieve the item and BAM, your out $750...

the check is alot safer, there are stills ways it can be fake...but you would deposit it before the MM gives the account so you would be safe...however, not many MM's will want the check to be sent to them first...i know I wouldnt...even with it being that big I would probably still refuse to do it that way...too risky on the MM's part, and quite annoying... (im not saying I wouldnt...just saying I wouldnt WANT to)

the SAFEST way to send / recieve money online is moneybookers...you can sign up just like paypal, everything works the exact same...except they dont allow chargebacks no matter what...its a great program...i recommend you look them up...

hope that helps

you can also try e-gold (not very common anymore) or western union...

also, if you do decide on doing it through mail, you might ask the buyer to use a money order or cashiers check...if it gets lost or there is a dispute, the bank will know exactly what happened and be able to tell you if the either o you scammed...and also no1 would be out any money...

Thank you very much jb.
I just registered on moneybooker.

So if moneybooker was used. The seller would give the account information to the MM.  The buyer would send the money to the MM via moneybooker.  The MM would send the money to the seller.  Then finally the MM would give the buyer the account information.

using moneybooker, there is no possible way for you to get scammed...

there is a way for the BUYER to get scammed if you recover the account...but no way for YOU to get scammed
