i think you know my answer...

i did 6th grade, then spent 3 years doing nothing...went to 11th grade...and now i do nothing again...and somehow i am still going to graduate knowing more than the average person who actually went to school...

there is NO reason to go to school...i can learn more in an hour than i can learn by going to school for a year...

I am never going to need to know what the molecular structure of a Lima Bean is...so why should I need to learn it? What I need to know is webdesign...which is what I spend my entire day doing...

school is a generic form of learning which the government pushes into your heads trying to teach you small amounts of 1000 different things that you will never need...

then they grade you...they GIVE YOU A GRADE on learning...and then order you in society based on your ability to absorb information...that is so incredibly ridiculous...

I say yes. And yes i would still go. It helps our society in a lot of different ways. And by mandatory i mean you learn from someone make like a parent or home schooled but yeah.

the only thing you learn from going to school is how to "fit in" to what the government is pushing as a "normal society"...school is the governments way of conforming individuals into a mass group of identical soul-less creatures that keep quiet and live "free" lives...

the purpose of school has been disintegrated into nothingness and replaced by never-ending daily work to keep you busy and distracted from what is really going on while all the while forcing you to absorb yourself into a world which if full of millions of other people undergoing the same de-individualism caused by the school system itself...

the government wants to distract you at a young age so that when you get older you know nothing else...

its all a very well thought out conspiracy that has been handed down from government leader to government leader through the last century...

I never said anything about runecore...i said web design...

there are MANY different online sources for single webdesign jobs...bulletin boards where people post hat they need done, and you do it for a price...they pay you for speed, accuracy, and overall quality...its actually quite good money, my uncle's friend does it...and hes a highschool dropout...anything you need to know you can easily learn through a simple google search, or by asking someone online...

most schools dont even have a computer program...I was the teacher of the computer program for my school...thats how much they care, they dont even bother to hire one, they just hand over the entire technological future of hundreds of children to a teenager...

----
as for school being mandatory...thats a load of crap...they can say it is all they want...but I am a living example that it is not...i stopped after 6th grade and didnt go back until 11th...

just dont go...then they call your parents...they say "i dunno, havent seen him in a few weeks"...and then there ya go...all done, no more school...

i ended up going back after a few...problems...

but i was never forced...

Such as history...if you can call it that...

Everything they teach you in school history classes is history through the GOVERNMENTS eye...mostly false, bias, unsupported "facts" distributed in the form of history books...Private schools are better about this, or at least better than public schools...

There is no need to learn history, dont believe all that "history repeats itself" bullshit...live in the present, live for the future...forget the past...especially the past that you learn about in school...there is no need to learn from false history...

In other words, alot of jobs require you to earn a diploma, so some jobs will reject you.

and yet again, in other words, alot of people want you to be branded by the government for attending 12 years of mind manipulation...

I mean if you finish 12 years of school you will get more options in what career you want. And even though your drop out you still be succesfull in life, take a look out the top 400 forbes 40% of them are all drop outs.

Answers:

1: Yes

2: No

I find my self, for most of this thread, agreeing completely with JB Lee, which is not something I often do.

Though, I think, School should be ''mandatory'' because, if it was not, then we would be living in Anrchy, even more so than we are now, BUT clever people, like JB Lee who see School for what it really is, a waste of time and brain space (and for people like me who don't have much space to fill it's unbearable).

As for the history thing yes and no.... Allot of history is twisted... manipulated, to make it sound better or worse for a certain country, for example, in England Napoleon, we are taught, was a tyrant, the first communist. Whereas in France, I'm guessing, he is portrayed as a liberator and Wellington, the British General who finally defeated Bony and his Armies, is probably more the tyrant. (Just an example, doubtful it's true)

I don't go to School, haven't done for 4 (ish) years, this year, if I were to go to School I would preparing to take my GCSE's (Exams you take at 16 - I don't know the American equivalent) but instead I have 8 GCSE's under my belt and 2 A levels (Exams I should take when I'm 18), the others 3 I'm taking in June this year, then, next year (if I get good enough results), I'll be off to Uni to study Law and Politics....

Soo you CAN learn just as much, and a hell of allot more out of school (and technically less as I haven't done allot of the tedious shit that I'm never going to use in later life).

------------

There's three main groups of people:

People that fight authority because it's authority.

People that accept authority because it's authority.

And people that fight authority because it's wrong.

-------------

It's the latter group that School shouldn't be ''mandatory'' for... as they can still succeed even when they're not in School.

Though to succeed outside School you need 3 things: will power, a desire to succeed and brain power.

Which is why the other two groups couldn't ''survive'' outside of School really... BUT... I guess if School wasn't ''mandatory'' then there'd be more jobs, well paid jobs for the few educated people, going soo........

Oh and another note:

"u didnt do school long enough"

Shall we compare? Yes, lets... JB Lee runs a quite successful site, is looked up to by allot of people, is pretty clever and he gets that from LIVING in a chair.... what have you accomplished from going to school ''enough''? does it make you inheritently smarter? because you sit in a classroom for 6 hours a day? having ''facts'' drummed into you? you think showing you've wasted your life will help you get a job? whereas JB Lee can show that he can think for himself.... and what do you think the employer is looking for? the sheep (the follower) or the fox? I know who I'd choose if there was a herd of sheep there and one fox, I'd pick the one that stood out that showed they knew what they were doing...

and on that final note... you joined 7 days ago... you have 86 posts... you don't seem to be doing to well to become ''less of a spammer'' when your making STUPID comments when you don't know what the hell your talking about.

So please don't waste my time in replying to you again.

/end: agreeing with JB Lee

JB Lee you live in a chair! go outside! the sun will not melt you... I think...

HOLY CRAP! Aragost agreed with me!

well, theres a first for everything I guess...the lame-duck learns new tricks well /tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

----
Honestly, i don think there are many people that dont like me...

for the most part, i am nice to everyone...as long as they dont repeatedly break the rules or flame me...if some onn flames me, then i MIGHT flame back (usually dont)...

Most of the people that dont like me are either:

1) Mad because I wont do something for them which obviously shouldnt be done (banning someone just because they want me to)
2) Want to look cool by saying they dont like me and pretend to be better than me
3) Jealous
4) Joking

its not a consistant job unless you are hired by a company. if you just do freelance crap then one week youll be getting a lot of money sure. But then the next month there could be no work.

And im not going to go any further into this other then saying yes school is molding you into another worker bee for the hive, however most people need to be molded. If you indeed do see things for what they are really worth then you would see the world much differently.
Title: Should school be mandatory?
Post by: Allanon on October 21, 2007, 06:40:20 PM
Well I said No and yes, because I think that if it wasn't mandatory the people who didn't want to be there wouldn't.  Then teachers would be able to spend more time with students to help them learn the subject and not dedicating their time to trying to keep a few problem students under control.

I would still go, because school will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to get through life, no matter how you look at it.  JB Lee going to a crappy private school I can see why you would think that they were just being molded into what society thinks is acceptable.

going to school has nothing to do with learning, no matter what they tell you or you choose to believe

unless you count learning false information or learning how to be a government idealistic clone...

My belief is this:

Yes, go to school.

Even though you want to become a professional baseball player and the normal schedule won't help with that, you will be better off with an education of knowing how to survive on your own than not.

Trust me, it's the little things you learn in school that make the difference.
