Looks like MS is looking for ways to slip in Product Activation on earlier versions of Windows. The IE6 Public Preview adds this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMSLicensing
In this key are two subkeys named HardwareID and Store. Everyone who\'s planning to just \"stick with Win2k and avoid the activation crap\" may be in for a surprise.
