Title: Windows XP paste/clipboard problem
Post by: Marcia on October 21, 2007, 10:32:08 AM
I've found that every time I try to copy & paste, cut & paste, or drag and drop a file, my pc tries to install a program that I thought I deleted off my pc.  If it helps, the program that it is trying to install is the Roxio Easy CD Creator.  I think I didn't delete the program the correct way.  I went into control panel and found the program but I didn't have the option to uninstall so I just searched for all Roxio and deleted all the folders manually.

What version of Roxio Easy CD Creator did you have installed
Was it version 4 or 5 possibly?

Do you have GoBack installed on your computer?

According to the add/remove programs, which it's still listed on but no option to uninstall, it's Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.  No, I don't have GoBack.

Try the following
It will help with the manual uninstall

Download and install the latest version of CCleaner
From here
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ (http://\"http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/\")

NOTE: During install, you will be prompted to Create Desktop icon, install yahoo toolbar etc...
UNCHECK ALL Options Except for Desktop shortcut icon

We'll need this tool later

Afterwards:
Download and install
Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (http://\"http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe\")
We'll need this later

Next: Download and save too desktop
Roxizap.exe
from here:
http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe (http://\"http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe\")

Enter your taskmanager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)
End process on anything related to Roxio if running

Run Roxizap.exe, it may prompt it is for version 4 or 5, but continue anyways
Reboot the computer afterwards

Back in Windows:
Run Windows Installer Cleanup utility from Start>>All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
Select anything related too Roxio if found and remove
Reboot again

Navigate to this folder
C:\Windows\Prefetch
Inside the folder, remove any reference related to Roxio,
Open CCleaner from the desktop shortcut
Select the Cleaner button
Run Cleaner>>Ok the Prompt
When finished

Select the Registry button
Then select Scan for Issues
When finished select Fix Selected Issues
Allow to make a Backup
Then fix all selected Issues
When done, exit CCleaner and reboot the machine one last time

See if that is any help

Glad to help, you can uninstall the Windows cleanup tool from add/remove programs if you feel you don't need it anymore
You may want to hold onto CCleaner, a nice little utility
Don't run the Registry cleaner all the time, but useful at times like this
