Title: 133 SDRAM on 66 system
Post by: Leo on May 03, 2001, 10:17:01 AM
What is my likelyhood of success \"underclocking\" SDRAM?  I want to upgrade a 233 Pentium system with 66MHz FSB, but for just a couple of $$ I can upgrade from 66 to 100 or even 133.  In the past, you could always put fast memory in a slower machine, but I have heard that the SDRAM is not always \"down\" compatible.   I know that I won\'t realize a performance gain, I just want to buy memory that I can recycle in future (faster) systems.

Most all RAM is backward compatible.  There were only a few that gave problems.  Your chances are pretty good, especially if you buy quality (non-generic) ram.
