If you've ever seen those popups that want you to sign up for free trials. Then you know how hard it is for these companies to actually get business.
So they employ companies to advertise for them and get signups. In turn, these companies will give you gifts. So far I've recieved 2 XBOX 360's, Guitar Hero 2 and 3!!! Woot (I know lol)
