and when i do complain i just let it go. but i have held this in too damn long.
it seems like anybody is getting elite!!!! i worked my ass off and it took me 11 months to get elite, but now some people get in within 4 months. whatever, i guess it doesnt matter anymore but i dont see them doing as much as i or any of the older elites did for that matter. and wait....you guys (jblee, allanon, purblood and others cant remember)voted no on paco's poll but voted yes on other people's polls. its bull. paco was an admin on runecore and everybody trusted him but people who are regular members on runecore can get elite here in 4 months....?
I got nothing against you guys btw...

Sorry Madhatter... I think you can just say, YDED and ELOYMAN.
Because thats really the only people you're referring to that fits in that category. And oh maybe Kirk Hammett, but he was elite a tiny bit longer.
-
Well, I voted no for yded, but I wont go into that.
My thinking for voting yes on eloyman and no for paco was simple: times have changed.
Paco has about 150m MMed, which is way too low for elite (I usually only vote yes for people with 300+). We made a point to the public by voting no on him when he obviously wasn't qualified and we all knew and had accepted the fact that we wanted to vote yes purely because he was our friend. We KNEW he would never scam, but his history in trading had not proved it.
As for eloyman, he had even less MMed, less transactions, and had been here a less amount of time. But, it is the same concept as Paco. He is our friend, we know he wont scam (proven by a 42m transfer he did for me while Paco has never done a trade with me), but yet his transactions history doesn't completely prove his trust.
However, as I said, time have changed. There is no longer a need for Official MMs. The elite group is now merely for people who have the friendliness and knowledge to lead a forum. There is no need for trust or transactions, the basis for what an elite is has changed due to the recent updates of Jagex. There will be no more trades, and in turn, no MM's. So how do you decide who gets elite?
I have always based my vote for elite on trust, activity, maturity, and the basic understanding of the english language. Usually I put more emphasis on the trust part, but now, I put more emphasis on the other parts (while still keeping a small part on trust). Eloyman has shown maturity, he is active, he definitely speaks english, he is in contact with me and other mods 6+ hours out of the day on ventrilo, and he has proven that he can be trustworthy (to me at least).
I see no problem with him being elite, but that is my personal opinion. I did not get together with any of the other mods / elites before voting. Usually we talk the votes out and figure out how we will vote, but we did not for eloyman. I voted differently than pureblood and allanon. He has proven his trust to me, and combined with other qualities, he has proven his worthiness to be elite.

How exactly do you plan to get the mills? And if you mean you are playing the game and earning it, then how exactly do you plan to sell it?
You have about an hour before the updates go into effect at the time of this post. By the time you read this, it will probably be too late...
-
Just putting it out there, I still almost always vote no, and even though I like eloyman and I don't think he will scam, I voted no for him, because I didn't think he was quite ready yet. It doesn't bother me that he got it though, if anything he just got it too soon.
-
Allanon, you seriously need to stop spamming...3 posts in a month and a half...completely unacceptable! -.-

These thing amaze me. Madhatter said "It was much harder for older elites to get in" and JBlee said "I usually vote for people with 300M+". I was one of the first elites (Along with Allanon, Aragost, ED, Ztech and a few others) and I mmed about 20m total AFTER I was made an elite. I think that I had only done one trade at the time, effectively Ive done nothing to become an elite except for join the site a long time ago. Im so glad I did, Or Id never have been an elite.

I agree with you completely Cursed, but I think I know what madhatter is trying to say.
You guys, the original elites, don't really count as trying to "get in". Madhatter is referring to people that actually had to try to get it (Pureblood, Myself, littlefly, and a few others). We worked our asses off in order to become elites, I myself didn't even get it until I had nearly 1bil MMed. Then the new ones just get in because of friends...
Honestly, I think there are 2 main reasons for it starting to get easier again:
1) Ventrilo. People started talking to each other around the clock, everyday. You start to make friends, then someone new comes on (eloyman, madhatter, paco) and you make friends with them and before you know it, you trust them. They haven't proven their trust, no, but you KNOW they wont scam. It is a lot easier to get to know someone through voice than it is through text. (I am a perfect example, I sound and act nothing like I do on the forums, lol, ask anyone). If you look back, no one that was active on ventrilo has scammed. The closest was azza, but did anyone really like him?
2) That whole thing with me and reazee kinda split the elites in half for a bit, people voted for people just to spite the other side, votes started to become collective instead of individual which still seems to have stuck, encouraged more by the fact that we can easily share our thoughts on ventrilo in an organized fashion.
---
Just brainstorming I guess, I dunno.
Either way, my vote still stands for Eloyman, and I really don;t see how anyone can disagree with MY vote. He transferred 42m for me in one trade without scamming, thats enough to make me trust him. Other people though, thats up to them why they voted what they did.
-
I just remember for me when I didn't even want to become elite. But then one day I was like, F... This Ill become one and It took me like 6 month to get the balls to ask Allanon because I thought he was GOD or something. I just remember me doing like 200 transactions and like 1500 posts before I got in back in the old day. I remember some people today having like 10 transactions, that is messed up.
I think we should of just gone to the VERY devoted people that have been active for one year atleast and asked them to become elite when we think they are ready. Not them asking us. We should of done that instead, so when we think someone is ready, we will PM them asking if they want to become elite, then make a Poll or something. Because some of these elites asked when they were still little nooblets and got in because they were "cool" and had "many friends".
-
As long as enough elites have trust in someone so much that they know they wont scam, then I think it's suffient. I know it's really unfair on people like JBlee and Pureblood who spent 11 months spending every day MMing for free, but it was quite uneccersary. I mean, transactions do mean something, because they boost the amount of trust people are willing to give, but if you were uber trusted without transactions (Allanon) then theres no reason why you wouldnt become an elite. I mean I suppose "Elite" is the trusted group, but "Official MMs" are the ones that need all the transactions. Not that it matters anymore, like JBlee said we are now going to have to choose elites based more on their grammar, maturity and the amount of friends they have in the elite group.

But I have busted my ass...
I've made myself known on runecore and ttg, Always try and keep my mming thread on the first page, never turn down mms, offer advice to people when they need it and even help whenever I can.. I can respect the fact that you had to wait a long ass time to become an elite.. But don't say I got in just because of friends, I worked for it too. Maybe not as hard as you did... But I still worked for it.
And for Ydeds part..
He just plain out freakin deserves it..
-
On a scale of 1 to 10 of how much you worked for it, ill give you a 3...
-
Eloyman you were just away when people were working hard.
Even Matthew (before elite) and Pureblood (after elite) use to struggle to get MM's at a few points, then JBLee had a pretty steady pace of MM's after RuneCore.
I still have no freaking idea how I got so much MM'd. I did a few when I started advertising about it, then more people heard I was sort of trusted and used me to MM.
Glad to be among the few (due to a mass loss of people from the terrorrist named scammers), the (somtimes) proud, the ELITES.
When I went for TTG elite the only thing I had going for me was activeness, a moderate amount of MM's, and my vouches.
Even I think that maybe being here a bit longer would have given me more experience, but it worked out in the end.
And on runecore, although I had a heavy reputation from its members, since I was NOT active and NOT a leader position, that is what lead me to lose.
I believe that Eloyman deserved elite because I believed that 1. he would not scam in any way. 2. he displays leadership qualities, and 3. he had a number of credentials.
You guys obviously aren't making him mod of VD and DD for no reason.... You're not something inanimate like a chair or something...... Oh wait.......
-
People always tell me that I never had to work for elite because I was owner of RuneCore. Thats not true...at all...
I got my "big break", i guess it was I would call it, when I was given mod of banjagex, nearly admin. Then that crashed and people needed a new site, I decided I would make my own.
First of all, how often are you guys actually on to MM? I don't have school, I don't have work, I don't have any commitments whatsoever. Therefor I was able to spend 100% of my time MMing. I was always on, always. You all say that you worked your ass off MMing, but that was only when you were on. The "only when I was on" for me was 100% of the time. I never turned down an MM until just recently.
Second of all, I should have been an elite way before I actually got elite, and you all know it. I was going to win my poll, no questions asked. I won my original poll without a hitch and then the 1 week poll was miserable due to that crap with reazee. Nothing had changed, but the elites had split up and the only people I had to vote for me was Allanon and Pureblood. Pureblood tried probably 3 times to get me into elite and it finally happened when Allanon changed the rules (allanon will disagree with this, he'll say something about the rules never being established for this individual instance, but you all know it...). I should have been an elite 3 months before I actually got it, but I had to spend 2-3 months working my ass off even harder.
Third of all...making RuneCore in itself has been my entire life for the last year...I know this has nothing to do with trust, but I would just like to throw out the fact that I have spent literally every hour of every day designing, building, and working on RuneCore. I have spent tons of money (most returned thanks to donations).
Honestly, call me selfish or whatever, but I think I have worked harder than any of you.
----
I never really had a goal of being elite, never really wanted it. I wanted to be mod and I knew without being an elite I had no chance...

lmao

How about we just wait for the one week poll instead of going into huge arguments?
-
Did someone delete my post?
-
wtf, who deleted all the posts?
-
There was no reason to delete them. You could have just closed the topic or something.
-
There were valid sub-arguments and reasonings made within the greater argument that were important and unrelated to your argument...you deleted everything...
-
yeah but none of them were on topic and they all pertained to virtual dump
the fact that you admitted Yeah..
means that thats abuse of power..
-
No, you deleted some legitimate on topic posts...
You can't assume that everything you don't like to hear is about VD or you..
-
/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
-
Thats an exact reason why you should have closed it rather then deleting the post because now no one has proof for either side..
-
DOUBLE POSTER SAD!

i cant believe this is a year old wow...
