i found it odd that if you do a search for whistler and blackcomb you get a ski resort named whistler-blackcomb. I don\'t know if there is any significance, but I found it a bit odd.
brew me a cup. we\'re here for the long haul.
-
the reason why you get that is because Whistler-Blackcomb is a ski resort that many of the Microsoft executives go to. thats the reason for the codenames

Hasn\'t these screenshots already been proven false?

Microsoft is devoluping a new software arquitecture called .NET based on Internet Standard Protocols and Technologies. The base of .NET is XML and new standards like SOAP, UDDI, etc. to remotly o locally called applications or libraries methods, events and methods with XML. These are called Web Services.
.NET Framework and .NET Development technologies and Tools (Visual Studio.NET) is now in Beta 1 Phase. Beta 2 come in June, 2001 and the final version come in the fisrt quarter of 2002.
Whistler or Windows XP comes with a few and a little .NET Technologies but the next version of Windows, codename BlackComb is fully .NET compliant. Also, the first comercial name planed to this version of Windows is \"Windows.NET\". All \"Blackcomb\" applications are based on Web Services .NET Applications that not require instalation. In Blackcomb there are no diferences on the Internet Interfaces and GUI with the Windows Interfaces and GUI because there are the same. For compatibility, also run actual and Win32 applications but this is the past.
The same occurrs with OfficeXP that includes a few technologies of the .NET arquitecture. But the next version of Office, i don\'t remember the codename are fully .NET compliant and a fully .NET apllication and service and probably the first comercial name planed is Office.NET.
