I have a copy of win2k advanced server and I am trying to upgrade to it from winME. When I put the disk in, I get an erroe message saying:
The option to upgrade will not be available at this time because setup was unable to load the file :
C:WINDOWSUpgdllsw95upg.dllWIN9XUPGW95UPG.DLL
The system cannot find the file specified
When the setup opens, it only gives me the option to run a clean install. If I do this it will erase everything on my system, and I will have to burn my files to a disk.
Is there any way I can download thoes files it\'s asking for so I don\'t have to copy everyhing to a disk?
Thanks

sounds like your copy of advanced server is an OEM. OEM\'s do not support upgrading they will only perform clean installs.
given the differences between the file systems ME (Fat 32) and ADV Server (NTFS) you are better off doing a clean install.

Cody....Best???
anyhow those files should be on your w2kas cd...if there not your screwed afaik.
you really should think about formatting your hdd/hdd\'s though. i agree with most people...you should upgrade windows os\'s...should clean install. i could see a upgrade of nt4 to this...but not me.
winme is so nastyy..soooo nasty. You should REALLY think about doing a clean install. It\'s winme...what could be so valuable to keep that you couldnt put on a cd?

ok here is why, you should NEVER upgrade from windows ME to windows 2000. M$ does not support an upgrade from windows me to 2000 in any way.
windows me was released about 6 months AFTER windows 2000. when could you upgrade from a future OS.
if you were to look at the box it will say that you can upgrade from windows 95 98 nt 3.53 nt 4.0 NOTHING about windows me.
give it up your not going to be able to upgrade from windows me to windows 2000.

a clean install means it will install to a new directory on c: drive, do a clean install and when asked the directory to install to, just choose a different one than the one from winme.
