Title: Earth Day at Google
Post by: JB Lee on March 30, 2008, 06:15:04 AM
Did this annoy the crap out of anyone else?

Personally, the only light source in my room is my monitors and my keyboard is not backlit, the colors of the webpage is the only thing that lets me be able to type. Say what you want about key placement memorization, but I have extremely bad memory when it comes to anything even remotely important. Ask me to recite the entire Wikipedia page on the walrus by heart and I have no problem, but memorizing 26 keyboard keys? Impossible.

Believe it or not, I used yahoo search yesterday /ohmy.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':o\' /> just so that I was able to type. I understand the whole concept of blending their name with holidays in their logo, but that doesn't effect eyesight, this just took it too far. I seriously couldn't find my mouse for about 10 minutes yesterday because of Google, I finally gave up and went to get some kind of light and ended up stepping on my mouse and hurting my toe. Looking back I could have just gone to a different page so that I could see...and here we arrive back at the whole "me is not teh smart" thing.

Is it just me being weird or did this anger anyone other than me?

It did bother me a bit, glad to have the white background back
But it was only for a day, so no harm

the wife and I tried to do our part
Shut off All lights, lit 5 candles
Ran our laptops from battery power  /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Yeh, the concept of the day itself is great, unfortunately the only things in my room that use electricity are my computer and air conditioner so not much I can really do to help the day out other than turn my room into an oven. I just wish Google could have found a less annoying way to advertise the day to the people.
