Title: Comp running slow and desktop recovery problem

Questolo,

Two years ago u made my computer a fast machine. now I am having problems when I play games over the internet and I am having problems with the overall speed of my computer.Also, the desktop recovery keeps re-appearing.

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4

Reboot the computer
Back in Windows

I suggest that you physically disconnect your Internet from the back of the computer until the next set of instructions are done

Please disable McAfee's Spyware Protection as it may interfere with fixes that we need to make.
Double-click on the McAfee SecurityCenter icon (the red [color=\"red\"]M[/color]) in the System Tray (the area to the left of the clock)
When the SecurityCenter window opens, if you see -> Advanced Menu in the bottom of the left pane, click on it.
In the left pane, go to Configure > SecurityCenter
In the right pane, under Protection Status, click the Advanced button
Place a checkmark in the following items:
- SystemGuard protection is disabled.
- Spyware and potentially unwanted program scanning is disabled.
- Script scanning is disabled.
Click OK
In the left pane, click on Computer & Files
In the right pane, turn Off the following items:
- Spyware protection is enabled
- SystemGuard protection is enabled
- Script scanning protection is enabled
Close the McAfee SecurityCenter

In addition, temporarily disable McAfee AntiVirus
We'll reenable these when we're done here

RVAXO.exe

• Double click on RVAXO.exe and choose unzip. It will install to a folder called Rvaxo.
  
• Now open up the Rvaxo folder and double click on RVAXO.cmd
  

[color=\"#008000\"]You will see a small window pop up, and quickly some lines will run , then the window will close by itself, this is normal behavior.
Then it is possible for an uninstaller of some roque scanner to start up, do not close this but follow all prompts there, and let it run its course.[/color]

• When it's done the computer will reboot.....press any key to reboot.
  
• After reboot RVAXO will run again, let it finish

ensure you Protection software is still disabled
Run Flash_Disinfector.exe, Follow the prompts
Insert any removable flash drives you may have when prompted

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
By default it will save a copy to C:\Combofix.txt
I'll need to see this log later
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

When done, reenable Only your AntiVirus software for now
reconnect to Internet
If you don't have internet connection in a minute
Reboot the computer to establish connection

Can you do the following

===Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg

Save this file on the desktop
Ensure to copy from REGEDIT4 and down in the code box

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.

• Download the latest version of  Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (http://\"http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp\").
  
• Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6".

• In the Window that opens, check the "agree" box.
• Select Windows from the Platform drop down bar
  
• Click Continue
  
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add or Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.

Reboot the computer when the last one is removed


Back in Windows and after you have installed the updated Java
We need to get you a new AntiVirus software
Go here and download your Free version of Avira AntiVir

When it's done, Reboot the computer
Back in Windows

Open Avira again (Double click on the red Umbrella icon by the clock)
Click on REPORTS under Overview
Double click on the Scan report you just made
Then click on "Report File"
Post the contents of this report back here please

In addition, can you run dss.exe from desktop again, post the contents of main.txt that will open when it's done

No just leave them in quarantine for now, once you feel the computer is running with no problems
Go ahead and enter Avira's Quarantine
Open Avira>>Click View>Administration>Quarantine
Delete all objects

How are things running on your end now?

overall, everything is much faster, however the reason why I started this cleaning is because I wanted to play a game over the internet and the people I played with told me that I am a lagger. I now its a bit retarded to even play games at my age..../smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' /> However, I  would like to know is it possible that the reasons for me to be the lagger where the viruses that you helped me delete or they depend on my internet connection which is 1mb/256kb adsl or the overall power of my computer?

Let's do some final cleanup, since the lag issue seems unrelated at the moment

Open the Rvaxo folder and double click on uninstall.cmd
This will remove Rvaxo and it's componets

Go to START>>RUN>>Copy and paste the next bold entry

ComboFix /u
Hit OK
This will uninstall ComboFix and it's components
If you type that command, ensure there is a single space after the x, and before the /

download the [color=\"red\"]OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer[/color] (http://\"http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt2.exe\")[/url].

• Save it to your desktop.
  
• Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  
• Click the Cleanup! button
  A list will be downloaded>>Allow it Internet access if prompted by your Firewall
  Don't change anything in this list
  
• Select Yes at the prompt
  Wait for the confirmation box to open to reboot the computer
  Don't mouseclick during the wait as you may cause the tool to stall
  
• Select Yes to reboot Now
  

NOTE: This procedure will also delete OTMoveit.exe from desktop

Go to START>>All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore
Select>>Create a New restore point
Give it a name, any name,
 and click Create
Windows will prompt when it was created successfully
When that's done

Go to START>>RUN>>type the following
cleanmgr
Hit OK
Let if finish calculating

Select the More Options tab
and click Cleanup.. under 'System Restore'
This will clear all later restore points except for the one you just made

Ok the prompts, it may take a few seconds to remove old restore points
Ok again after it's ready and let it finish cleaning

I suggest that you add SpywareBlaster to your protection software
SpywareBlaster  by JavaCool (http://\"http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html\")  

*Will block bad ActiveX Controls
*Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
*Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer

After installation, Check for updates
After updating, select "Protection Status" on the Left
Then select "Enable all Protection"
"Check for updates every couple of weeks"
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"
or again, click on Protection Startus>>enable all protection

Let me know how things are running afterwards
