I've suddenly encountered this problem. My CD burner ASUS CRW-4832AS just doesn't appear as a burner anymore? It will still play CD's load games, etc, but when I try to burn I was getting an error. When I tried to use Windows Media Player instead of my usual program, it told me I do not have any burner available. Any ideas as to where I can start looking for the problem? I did have a virus that you helped me with last week, but I think even before that, I would occasionally get an error burning the CD, but next time it would work, so it may have been glitching previously.
Thanks for any help!

Let's see if it's a registry key problem
Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as Export.bat
regedit /e Export.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"Double click on Export.bat, a text file called Export.txt
should produce on your desktop
Copy>>paste back here the contents of Export.txt please
