Title: Activate Windows Vista Forever, LEGALLY!
Post by: Conderoga on July 25, 2008, 11:38:08 AM
Alright everyone, not too long ago, I decided I wanted Windows Vista Ultimate, so I installed it and didn't put in the activation key, which keeps it as a 30 day trial (completely Legal). So when Microsoft made Vista they made the rearm trick for some unknown reason... anyway you can go in to the command prompt and type this in "slmgr.vbs  -rearm" and it will reset the counter on your trial period then you reboot this is completely legal. The problem is you can only do this three times, meaning you can only use Vista for 120 days...I found a solution...LEGALLY

Its quite easy really. First you go to C:/Windows/system32 then you find the file "slmgr.vbs" now copy it to your desktop and rename it "slmgr1.vbs", then copy it back into the system32 folder. Open up the command prompt and type in "slmgr1.vbs -rearm" and reboot and boom you get another 90 days of trial! Do this as many times as you need, I'm about to start on slmgr3.vbs and nothing bad yet =)

You can always check your remaining days by going to run and typing "slmgr.vbs -dlv"

Tell me what you think!  /wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />
Since then Microsoft appears to have patched all retail versions of Vista Home, but it should still work for Vista Business, Vista Enterprise, and Vista Ultimate since those were the intended operating systems.
This was meant to be for 120 days only and for businesses. Any tampering with this is against the TOS, but it has been done by many people for up to a year..

How is that legal? its got to be against the TOS.

Either way it is ilegal so just google a Windows Vista <version> key or ask me for one.

It might be slightly against the TOS for Vista (I wouldn't know since I haven't read them) but it's a lot more legal than using a keygen or anything if that sort =P

AND yes. It does work...(Although it does get annoying)

If your going to be violating the TOS you might as well do it in a way that is permenant and doesn't require you to repeatly activate/avoid activation.
