Each code can only be used one time and can only be acquired by purchasing the game. In addition, if you want to progress past level 60 or visit any new zones, you will need to also purchase the Burning Crusade expansion pack for its code. Borrowing a friends disks won't cut it, you need your own code, so you have to purchase it yourself. I suggest the WoW Battlechest, it includes both the game and the expansion, the necessary codes, and also 30 days of free playing time. It costs about $40.
