I had a new harddrive put in my HP notebook about a year or so ago. This is the first time I've tried to play a DVD.
When I tried to play it using Media Player it said that I needed a decoder. I went to Microsoft's website and ran a program to see if I already had a decoder installed that was compatible with Media Player, and it said it was already there. Yet, when I try to play the DVD it says there is no decoder.
If I try to play it using Real Player, it says I'm missing the plug in needed, and tells me to click the link to go to their site to get it. Yet, when I click the link and it hooks up with their website, it tells me that I do not have any DVD software installed.
I'm not sure what that means- I thought maybe I needed a driver of some sort but the drive already works- it just won't play DVD's. It plays regular cds though.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
