It's definitely related to Dell support center
Can you let me know if you can manually start Dell Support
From the START menu
Or from START>All Programs menu
-
I am able to manually start...
-
OK, good, we're going to remove some entries with hijackthis
But first, I just realized your using an older version of Hijackthis
Can you remove Hijackthis from Add and Remove Programs
Then, Download Hijackthis Installer from HERE (http://\"http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe\")
For an alternate download location, you can try HERE (http://\"http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/HijackThis/1071179190/1\")
SAVE it to your desktop
Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run it
Choose Install
Hijackthis v2.0.2 will open
Under Main Menu, Select
Do a system scan and save a Log file
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and Paste the Whole log back here to the forum----It is all important!
You can delete the installer from desktop afterwards

I'm having a dvd video playbacq problem. I get sound on WMP but no video. CinePlayer won't launch. Media Center gives error message that video card or drivers are not compatible with Media Center. What would you suggest? Should I post a new topic?
-
It's probably a codec problem
Were you ever able to play this DVD on this computer?
check out this link, it may or may not help, let me know
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902166 (http://\"http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902166\")
In addition, go to START>>RUN>>type in dxdiag
Then click OK
Wait for this to fully load
Then click on the DISPLAY tab
Test Direct Draw and test Direct 3d
Click on the SOUND tab
test Direct sound
Back at the General tab
SAVE ALL INFORMATION button
Save a copy to desktop then copy/paste back here that info please

I guess you can see below. I was not able to perform the 3d test. I was always able to play dvd's before. I have tried many dvd's and none of them show vid. There was a point around the same time this problem started, that i was getting a green screen playing in netflix instead of video. I was able to fix it though WMP settings. I thinq it was video acceleration that i read i had to change. netflix did show video but it was very pixelated. I don't remember what i did since. but netflix seems to be playing liqe it had originally.

what is the make/model of laptop
Never mind, I know the manufacturer
Dell Inc.
System Model: MXC061
Is it an Inspiron?
-
Did you see my edit
Never mind, it looks like your Graphics drivers are corrupt
Can you go to the following link
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...;l=en&s=gen (http://\"http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen\")
Choose your Model and series of Laptop
Ensure XP is selected for Operating system
and Look under Video section for your Video driver
Save the installer to desktop
Temporarily disable your AntiVirus and install the driver
Reboot
Try running dxdiag again and see if you can run the other Display tests
Set to ENABLE on Direct Draw
and the other 2 options if available>>Direct 3d and AGP
-
Perfect. Was able to test direct 3D. AGP was not available. What could have caused this corruption?
My DVD's play perfect. Thanqs so much for your help!
/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

I couldn't tell you exactly what corrupt them
We did just rid you of some malware in your other post
That's a possibility
Or it could of been a legit program, anything really that may have caused the corruption
It's not something that will regularly happen, but it can happen
