Im trying to put a 5.5 gb file onto an 8 gb flash drive, but for some reason it wont put the file on the drive.
It says "The disk in the destination file is full. Insert a new drive to continue."
Im not stupid, the drive is empty and i checked, i have 7.7 gb free on the flash drive.
Can any one give me a reason for this? And possibly a way to fix it, i need this file.

What operating system are you using?
You probably have the flash drive formatted FAT or FAT32
Can't handle over 4GB file

The computer is using Windows XP Home Edition SP3, and ill check the drive format right now.
Edit:
How do yo check the format?

I'm just stepping out, in the meantime try the following
Some users don't have success with this method, but give it a shot
XP won't give you the Format to NTFS by default
Right click on MyComputer and select Properties>>Hardware>>Device Manager
Expand(+) on Disk drives
Find your Flash drive and right click on it and select Properties
Under Policies select "Optimize for Performance">>Ok it
(Keep in mind, you may have to use the Safely remove hardware wizard when removing the device"
Right click on your flash drive in MyComputer and select FORMAT
Choose NTFS under File system then click START
See if that helps, as mentioned, some find it won't format this way
