Title: dowloading setup files
Post by: Marcia on January 12, 2009, 06:48:44 PM
I'm trying to copy a setup application to a disc.  I downloaded it and saved it to my desktop.  When I move the program to the CD drive to burn it I get a message that there is extra information attached to it that may be lost when I copy the program.  The message also states the contents of the file will not be affected.  Any idea what files will not be copied?  How can I be sure that I get everything I need to set up the application on my friend's pc, who, by the way, doesn't have internet access, otherwise I would download it directly onto his pc.

Not knowing operating systems involved or type/name of setup file
But to get around it
Do you have a USB stick handy

Redownload the file but save directly to the Thumbdrive
Then transfer to friends computer
Or install from the thumbdrive

If you absolutely must have it on a cd, heres one of the various options i would do.
i would zip the file.  Then i would burn it.  /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

if the pc tells me that it still wont keep all of the information, ill put it into the trash can,
because that doesnt make sense. /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
