hi all,I`m new here..DLINK sent me..new guy old problem..
/laugh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />
I believe my wifi access point signal is weak enough to not let Internet Explorer load a page.
It will, however, download Windows update,I saw it happen wireless-ly.It is unsecured.
I get the message:"limited or no connectivity",and that I may not be able to connect to the internet,
but I can see the DLINK program shows that I am connected.
I can see that I am sending 4x more bytes than I am recieving.
Properties will show that I get a 50% signal,[low/very low], the access point is 54. mbps strength.
I have not tried a real wifi hotspot yet, but the question is :
"do I have a reception issue,or an old laptop issue?"
Below I will specify what I do have:
celeron 933mhz/256mb.ram/60.mb free space
DLINK dwa-652
windows XP s.p.3
thanks for your help!!

limited to no connectivity could also mean that you are not getting an ip address from isp.
Did you try resetting the router, the modem, and disabling and then reabling your network adapter?

This is a "borrowed" connection, though who I borrow from is a mystery

"They" got the router,not "I".
How do I get an IP adress?, I mean ...if I know it-can I type it in somewhere?
I have a feeling Explorer knocks me down due to the weak signal.

Yeah you are probably correct.
Since the router is not in your house and you don't have any clue where it is at chances are you are to far away and are just getting a weak signal.
