Hi all!

Question: How can I set up a logging system on my [Win 2000 Server] Server, which also acts as a print server. I need to monitor who prints what in the network. I basically need to track the following in a text file:

DATE, TIME, USERNAME, MACHINE, PROGRAM THAT IS BEING PRINTED FROM, PAGES and /or SIZE of the printjob and (this is less important) which of the 2 printers was used

Does Win2k Server have options for this kind of logging? If yes, where can I find info on this? What other programs are capable of logging this info.

ALSO: How can I grey out (&disable) the print button in ONE certain program. I know this should be possible through a registry/shell manipulation, but how...

I\'m not sure if it does that type of logging, but it does log print jobs.  Here\'s how to enable/disable it:  Microsoft Knowledge Base

Cool, I found that in the help of win2000 too but WHERE is the logfile? I can\'t find anything that looks like the print log...

There is a freeware print logging program available from www.karenware.com that should do most of these things. The program was written by Karen Kenworthy who used to write for winmag.com. I just tried to check this site but could not access, perhaps the server is down.

There are also a number of other free utilities available frrom this site as well.

Sunbelt software also have a print logging and control program - I think there is a trial version available, but the program is basically commercial and at a \"good\" price (ie good for them, bit pricey for me!)
